Recently watched a Facebook post of Prahran celebrating their 1973 premiership and heard them singing their club song which sounded like the South Melbourne Club song (Notre Dame March) but with different lyrics. This got me thinking about what were the Club songs of the old VFA Clubs? I vaguely remember that Port's was "Grand Old Flag" and Williamstown's was possibly the same but with 'gold and the blue'.
I read somewhere that Mordialloc's was an unusual one.
Can you contribute to this thread by posting the Club songs as used by the clubs during the VFA years.

All the VFA songs were great as VFA stands for Very F*#!king Awesome as opposed to the VFL of today which is Very F*#!ing Lame

Is this the start of North Melbourne claiming that their VFA flags should all be counted a la Port Adelaide's 37?

Have been informed that Waverley FC's was the Collingwood theme song.

"Good old Waverley forever, we know how to play the game. Side by side we stick together, to uphold the Waverley name. See the barrackers a shouting, as all barrackers should. Oh the premiership's a cake walk for good old Waverley".

Lyrics for other Clubs please.

Found this on YouTube Preston singing their song after a win in 1983 very similar to the Hawks tune.

and the song with lyrics below. Note: This must be the modern take for there is a change in the lyrics from the above video from "best in the association” to “best in the competition."

Waverly's was actually as follows;

Good old Waverly forever, we know how to play the game

Side by side we stick together, to uphold the Panther’s name!

See, the barrackers a’ shouting, come on, don’t look back!

Oh, the premiership’s a cakewalk, for the good old, Red & Black!

I might just post all the ones I've got here;

Box Hill - After the beat them on our home part I'm unsure as to what the lyrics were. I've filled them in with Carlton's as a placeholder.

We are the Brown and Golds
We are the old, dark, Brown and golds
We’re the team that comes from miles around
We’ll beat them on our home or any ground
With all the champions
They like to send up
We’ll keep our end up
And then they’ll know that they’ve been playing
Against the famous, brown and golds!
(Lily of Laguna)

Brunswick - Could be slightly different, but fairly confident on the lyrics

Flying high flying low
We are always on the go
We are magpies and proud of our name
Here and there everywhere
Fighting hard but always fair
We are magpies and proud of our name
Black and whites fly high
Like the magpies in the sky
With the courage and will to win the game (We will win!)
And wherever you go
We want you all to know
We are magpies and proud of our name
UP THE WICKS!
(As the Caissons go Rolling Along)

Caulfield -

There’s a team, down the way
That will win on any day
And that is Caulfield, the best of all
With the blue and white hoops showing
We keep the game a’ flowing
‘Cause we’re first to win the ball
And when the game is over
There’s shouts of wild glee
As once more almighty Caulfield
Goes on to victory
So stand up, and feel grand
Because the flag upon the stand
Belongs to Caulfield, the best of all!
(Along the Road to Gundagai)

Camberwell - Fairly certain of the lyrics

Cheer, cheer, for old Camberwell!
Bring out the echoes, come on the Wells!
Where the loyal sons are high
Bring down the footballs from the sky
Whether the odds be great or be small
Our Camberwell will win overall
See the loyal sons are marching
Onwards to victory!
(Notre Dame Victory March)

Coburg -

We’re the Coburg boys you know
Coburg coaches tell us so
We’ll kill ‘em, we’ll thrill ‘em, we’ll tear ‘em in two
We’re the fliers, we’re the triers
We’re the boys of Red and Blue
And when we reach that final four
Then we’ll kick those goals galore
Then you’ll hear those Lions roar
Oh yes Coburg, all the way!
(California Here I Come)

Dandenong - Apparently they had an original song when they were the Dandies, a la "I'm a Dandy, you're a Dandy" but I can't find anything on it. As far as I'm concerned, this was Dandenong's as the Redlegs:

It’s a grand old flag, it’s a high flying flag
It’s the emblem for me and for you
It’s the emblem of, the team we love
The team of the Red and the Blue
Every heart beats true for the Red and the Blue
As we sing this song to you
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
Keep your eye on the Red and the Blue
(You’re a Grand old Flag)

Frankston -

The Frankston boys are fighting, the Frankston boys are we
The Frankston boys are fighting, we’re bound for victory
We love to win for Frankston, our password is attack
As the Dolphins fight for victory for the Red, White & Black
So join in the chorus, and sing it one and all
Join in the chorus, for Frankston’s on the ball
Look out for Frankston, we’re really on our way
With victory after victory we’ll lead the VFA!
(A Wee Deoch and Doris)

Geelong West - Only can find the 1975 Vers. so if anyone else has info that would be neat.

Out we come, out we come
Out we come to play
Just for recreation sake to pass the time away
Lots of fun, heaps of fun
Lots of merry games
The West boys are hard to beat when they come out to play
So join in the chorus
And sing it one and all
Join in the chorus, for west are on the ball
Good old West, we’ll beat ‘em every time
For West will be the premiers in 1975!
(A Wee Deoch and Doris)

Mordialloc - OP says their's was an unusual one, but the only info I can find is that theirs was and still is A Grand Old Flag.

It’s a grand old flag, it’s a high flying flag
It’s the emblem for me and for you
It’s the emblem of, the team we love
The team of the Red and the White
Every heart beats right for the Red and the White
As we sing this song to you (What do we sing!)
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
Keep your eye on the Red and the White!
(You’re a Grand old Flag)

Northcote -

We are the boys from old Northcote, we are
We wear the colours, Green and Gold
We will always fight for victory
And we’ll always see it through
Win or lose, we do or die
And in defeat, we always try
Northcote, Northcote
The team we love so dear
Premiers, we’ll be this year
(La Marseillaise)

Oakleigh -

Out we go, out we go, out we go to play
Just for recreation sake to pass the time away
Lots of fun, lots of fun, lots of fun today
Nobody beats the Oakleigh boys when they go out to play
So join in the chorus, sing it one and all
Join in the chorus, the Oaks are on the ball
We’re Gold and we’re Purple
And we were on our chest!
And all the football world will know, the Oaks are the best!
(A Wee Deoch and Doris)

Port Melbourne -

It’s a grand old flag, it’s a high flying flag
It’s the emblem for me and for you
It’s the emblem of, the team we love
The team of the Red and the Blue
Every heart beats true for the Red and the Blue
As we sing this song to you
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
Keep your eye on the Red and the Blue
(You’re a Grand old Flag)

Prahran -

Here come Prahran boys
Here come the Blues
We won’t be beaten, we hate to lose
We will beat them one and all
The bigger they are, the harder they fall
What though the odds be great or be small
Gallant Prahran will win overall
You can hear the crowd all roaring
Come on the mighty Blues!
(Notre Dame Victory March)

Preston -

We’re from Preston, we're the Bullants
The good old red and white are we
All good stickers for the red and white
Always we fight for victory (At Preston)
We’re the best in the association
Won’t give up while there’s a chance (2, 3, 4!)
We are a team of champions, full of fighting spirit
That’s why they call us the Bullants!
(Yankee Doodle Boy)

Sandringham -
We’re the champions from Sandy
Mates in everything we do
We will show them how to play the game
And we’ll win the premiership too (YOU BEAUTIES!)
We’re the team they call the Zebras
Steadfast, loyal, strong and true
When it’s rough we just get tough we’re known to never falter
We are the Yellow, Black and Blue
YOU BEAUTIES!
(Yankee Doodle Boy)

Sunshine - If anyone knows the tune tell me it matches the intro to Frankston's

The Sunshine boys, the Sunshine boys, the Sunshine boys are we
For you had better watch out for us for we’re on the spree
It's your bad luck to meet us
You know you’re in a fight
For we are out to play it for the good old blue and white
We train through sweat and worry
Our bodies firm and sound
Whoever the opposition are we're the best team on the ground
It's your bad luck to meet us
You know you are in a fight
For we are out to play it for the good old blue & white!
(Same tune as the start of Frankston’s - I think)

Waverly -

Good old Waverly forever, we know how to play the game
Side by side we stick together, to uphold the Panther’s name!
See, the barrackers a’ shouting, come on, don’t look back!
Oh, the premiership’s a cakewalk, for the good old, Red & Black!
(Goodbye Dolly Gray)

Werribee -

From the playing fields of Melbourne
To the stands of Chirnside Park
We will fight our battles to the end
And we’ll surely leave a mark
We’re the Tigers of the VFA
And we sing in harmony (HARMONY!)
We’re the Tigers born in Black and Gold
We’re the boys from Werribee!
(The Gendarmes’ Duet)

Williamstown -

It’s a grand old flag, it’s a high flying flag
It’s the emblem for me and for you
It’s the emblem of, the team we love
The team of the Yellow and Blue
Every heart beats true for the Yellow and Blue
As we sing the song to you
Should old acquaintance be forgot
Keep your eye on the Yellow and Blue
(You’re a Grand old Flag)

Yarraville -
Yarraville is our name
Football is our fame
We will fight and we will scratch
And we will win them every match
Yarraville is our name
(No tune)
