Brendan 'Jonty' Rhodes and I team up again for Episode 2 of VFL 23; the unofficial podcast of the Victorian Football League

This week we've discussed something vital to the value of the VFL and VFLW competitions and that centres around the potential for AFL clubs to direct players into the VFL and VFL/W competitions for several years and use it as a platform to get players ready for AFL/AFLW level for a year or two before drafting them; based on the ongoing success of players being picked up in the competitions through the AFL system as mature and match-ready players.

This is the only media platform of its kind in Australia for this competition and with practice matches taking place this weekend, it's the perfect opportunity to get to know the competitions well ahead of the season, and competitions that are somewhat serving a similar playing purpose to college football and basketball in the US.

This week we explore the results from the opening weekend of practice matches in the VFL and VFLW, some of the biggest news arising over the last seven days, preview this weekend's matches and look at the draw for the first half of the VFLW teams in this exclusive look at the competition from two sets of eyes that will be watching over it the most in 2023.
We both appreciate the support from the sporting and social communities as we try to build something from nothing.

Young gun and rising star Zac Foot joins the boys as a special guest and talks up the pre-season at The Tank and how the club has rebounded following the loss to Casey in the 2022 decider.

No, only one being streamed is Casey/Coburg because Coburg cares about their supporters. Pretty sure you can attend for free though.
