Watching yesterday's QF between Geelong and Coburg, I couldn't help but think the Port Melbourne oval is an absolute disgrace. That no one was seriously injured slipping over or tripping in the cricket practice area was amazing.

Why doesn't the VFL use Optus Oval or even Skilled Stadium?

There is nothing wrong with the ground at Port Melbourne, Just look at the scoring beautiful day great football you don't see too much VFL footy do you.,

Only the grand final is played at Carlton (It won't be after this year). Likely to be at Telstra Dome in 2008.

Skilled Stadium can not be used as it is already book for GFL Finals.

Then surely you would understand why it was played at TEAC?

While, yes, MC labour provides high standard facilities, and does not truley reflect VFL football, unfotunately we do not attract the crowd levels that we had in the 60's through 70's, and MC Labour park feels average when 1500-2000 people turn up to watch a game.

The surface at TEAC is just about always magnificent. a good atmosphere when crowd levels don't have to be massive, and pretty easy to access via public transport etc. The cricket pitch area is actually not too bad, usually only a tad harder then the majority of the ground, but nothing dangerous to normal circumstances.

Reasons for the GF being at MC iam told is for the Coporate facilities, and the fact that at least 1 day will be free from TAC finals, MC Labour PArk which is where the majority of TAC finals are. Also perhaps on the hopeful occasion that we may get a crowd of maybe with fingers crossed 15 000.

There is nothing wrong with the surface at TEAC, and the ground has at least a club environment and feeling to it, rather than just a stadium that no one uses.

If we were able to get some decent figures to all finals, then sure why not, but at the moment, it just isn't happening, and you have to work with what youve got.

The TEAC ground is my favourite ground for watching footy. Never really been one for the big stadiums. Standing on the grass, having a beer while kids sit in the tree or play on the bark embankment is a very pleasant way to watch some pretty good footy. And last Sunday's match was a corker. Nothing wrong with the surface either.

I am a huge fan of TEAC Oval - its ambiance, location, feel, etc... but during parts of the season the surface was not up to the standard one would expect of the ground, in my opinion.
