The VFL was a curtain raiser today for the AFL game... Bomber Thompson said on the radio that NAblett was beaten up till half time, but he came back strongly after that. Not sure how many he kicked.

A quick wrap up of the VFL today. Until 3 quarter time at least then I got bored and went to the Lord of the Ilses for a Parma and Pot.

North Ballarat were far to strong and many of Geelong's younger players i.e rookies and supp list boys had absolute shockers. I think they just have to put this one down to a bad one I think. Blown out the cobwebs. Start again next week.

Tim Sheringham looks to be really struggling this year, and #55 did some of the dumbest things I have seen at VFL level for a long time. There was a big kid #47 who played down back who looks a likely type and will be keen to watch him over the coming weeks. (Sorry for the use of numbers only but Record is in the car and I can't be bothered going to get it).

Nath: Battled all day for mine. Did not get a single stat in the first half, and just looked off the boil today. Delivery and overuse of the ball didn't help his causes, but he was just way off today. A couple of times in the first quarter he was tracking back to the forward line with his back turned to the play, a teamate would win the contested footy and kick it to him, but he wasn't watching the play. Hope Tudor sits him down with the video and irons this out, as he would have had some good opportunities had he kept his eye on the play.

Prismall: Oozes class and had another good game today. Kicked to greta goals, one bursting through the middle from a Koula handball and slotted from 40, the other very ala NAB cup against Carlton. All one motion snagged over the shoulder. I know there is no room at the moment, but this kid needs to develop in the ones.

Wocinski: Quiet game and sort of tagged Sansbury. Got into a bit of a blue as well, but just really seemed off today. He wasn't alone though.

Stokes: Did some good things and trys very hard. Not as much impact as last week though.

Gamble: Liked his first half, and looks like he might have the skills to become a decent HBF.

Grima: Continues to present. Didn't have alot of impact on the scoreboard, but looks lively across half forward.

Lonergran: Again looked alright, and would have been better if players kicked long to the open forward line without insisting on taking another handball.

Callan: Progress has seemed to have stalled somewhat and will watch keenly over the coming weeks.

Koula: Barring injuries to senior players, will win the VFL B&F by the length of the straight. Is a good footballer but will be starved of opportunity at the Cats I feel.

Spencer: Looked shaky and nervous against Big Sav.

The good thing is that injuries to any of the top line boys will be able to be covered by what is below.

Middle: Prismall, Koula, Stokes

Forwards: Lonergran, Nath (was ordinary today, but really suffered because of poor delivery)

Has Tudor thrown Stokes up forward at all? I've seen him do some big damage up there in SANFL games, is he any chance of a senior spot this year?

He has rested occasionally on a HFF. But has spent most of his time on the ball. If we get injuries he will play ones, but we would probably need 3 or 4 of our onballers to go down, or Chapman and Ablett out at the same time so he could play forward. Hopefully none of the above happens and he can take a year to continue his dvelopment in the VFL and push hard next year.

Glad to see Tudor is coaching as good as he did last year!!!!
can't blame the injury's, when will GFC get rid of the D--- H--- he destroyed young kids last year like buckland, garth, would have loved to buckland on that half back line saturday. Please Geelong get rid of hime before destroys more of our young stars.
