Sorry dude, but you're wrong.

Jason's wife had a child at about 9.30 this morning, and he was in no state to play, so they gave Matthew Mott a late call up at 10am to play.

Arnberger certainly wasn't dropped.

I was going to say arnie's been in decent form, 80 in queensland and a coupla starts last week,

I would be criminal to drop him for mott

good bowling side, but light on for batters.

me thinks the sooner harves and arnie back in the side the better, and you can throw in an extra batter with harves as the all rounder.

esp as berry is a piddly batsman, though a great keeper.

4 down all out for the vics unfortunately with this line up.

I stand corrected. Thanks, phat.

Not a worry, a very unusual reason for missing a match.

3-187 at tea. Thankfully we got a wicket in the last over. With any luck this can be the start of a collapse.

68.6 Lewis to North, OUT: chops down on the ball bounces back over the stumps and a loud shout is rewarded

Western Australia 215/4, Partnership of 28
MJ North lbw b Lewis 10 (33b 2x4 0x6)

What's going on with this dismissal???

Read what is written. Then how he was dismissed. Either the commentator is saying the umpire completely stuffed the decision or something has gone very wrong in the commentating.....

Anyone with any clues?

Excellent last session from the Vics, taking 6-58 (and 4-29 at one point) to get WA out for a reasonable score.

We're on top so far, and with WA's weakened bowling attack, we really should be able to get at least first innings points.

Interestingly, WA opened the bowling with left arm spinner Beau Casson.

Cameron White got absolutely nothing out of the deck today, so there doesn't seem much in the pitch for the slow bowlers.

Guess Casson was given the new ball for one of two reasons, either the bowling attack is very weak, or the West Aussies are very worried about Matthew Elliott, who isn't at his best against spinners.

McDonald was very good today..another fiery red-head!

Excellent young player. Might be the next SOD.

Our young all-rounder stocks are very strong right now.

4 down all out is a very interesting call, dan warna. Batting at 5, 6 and 7 we have Hussey (batting average 32, highest score 106), who already has a century to his name this season, Moss (batting average 37, highest score 109) who has started very well, and White (batting average 20, highest score 91) who batted us from a very shaky position to a win against Queensland. Even Lewis has a highest score of 54 not out.

It's not world shaking but it's certainly not 4 down all out.

Was there today, looked like a road when rogers and goodwin was batting (some great pull shots and cuts, along with driving down the ground means its a good pitch)....

Mcdonald all of a sudden took 3 wickets in 6 balls and changed the match!

Was a hot day, the vics worked very hard and it could be a very long day if the batsman get set! Day two is always the best day to bat at the junction!

His only downfall is his batting. But he is still young and that will improve.

This'll be an interesting test for the Vics. Last week I was critical of Queensland for not making game of it by declaring early and challenging Victoria to do the same. That game petered out.

Now the shoe's on the other foot. Admittedly, Western Australia's score ended up being a lot less than ours in the previous match. But I would hope that if the pitch flattens out over the course of the match in a similar fashion, then we should up the run rate and declare not long after gaining first innings points.

Tht depends on a lot - especially Victoria's fragile batting line-up. Plenty of talent, but we're never far away from a collapse. But if things go our way, I'll be a bit disappointed if we just bat on and on.

If we can get to their score with either Elliott or Hodge's wicket intact, we should press on for a session or two tomorrow.

If we could build a 150-200 run lead and allow ourselves 4 sessions to bowl them out, i'm be happy.

Getting ahead of ourselves anyway, we could be 5-50 within a few hours.

1-78

Not a bad start, but we really need to be scoring much quicker. 2.65 runs an over isnt good enough at this level.

Lenny, can you fill me in on what happened with North's dismissal? Cricinfo commentary as strange indeed - sounded like he played on but was given out LBW  (see post earlier)

Also heard that the wicket was a bit two paced, is that about right?

Cheers.

Is it still raining at the Junction Oval?

In my part of Melbourne we got plenty of rain between 1-2pm, but since then it's been totally dry.

Apparently stumps was called with no change to the score (Vics 1/78) and play will resume half an hour earlier tomorrow.

I agree with Bluechampion, can't see a result in this match.

Which is especially annoying given that we are in a fairly good position so far

Very annoying, especially since it is going to be hard to make the finals if we've only got 2 points from our first two homes games (best case scenario).
