Vics go 6 points clear

Amazing effort to establish such a big lead in only half a season, even more special when you consider we were robbed of a certain outright win by rain.

David Hookes has really turned the state around by giving the likes of Moss and McDonald some confidence whilst recruiting talents like David Hussey.

It's only early, but we're looking good, with Inness, Hodge, Warne and White to return.

Still a "rabble" DaveW? ;)

Oh and whilst i remember, is McDonald still a "talentless hack" despite taking 8-89 in this match and averaging 17 with the bat and 22 with the ball over his career? :D

Aren't you forgetting the Milk Match captain ?

Yeah, i am, but we don't lose much with Roach behind the stumps.

Still, excellent result with our captain, vice captain, two best bowlers and best batsman to return.

Looks like Qld are finding some form - we've played them twice already and NSW once. Might catch Tasmania and South Australia after their early season form has evaporated too.

Too early to say, but we might just have a home final.

6 points clear. i made the same mistake. the table already had 2 points for the vics for 1st innings v WA while the match was in progress.

Yep, my bad.

Shall change the thread title.

We'll be right against Tassie, provided we remove the term 'declaration' from our vocab.

Like I've said before phatty... throw away line...

Victoria will be thereabouts by the end of this season but I don't think they'll go all the way. Their current position is a bit inflated by recieving the massive boost of playing an understrength Queensland side twice.

Victoria's batting looks pretty solid. Elliott & Arnberger is probably have the best opening pair around (barring Hayden & Maher both playing for Qld), Hodge is a gun and Moss and Hussey are solid.

I'm not so sure of their bowling beyond Inness though. Particularly with Harwood always breaking down. This could prove to be the Vics real weakness.

Also I think there is a bit of a leadership vacuum with the Bushrangers. A lot of experienced players either don't want the captaincy or aren't considered fit to captain; so they've been forced to take a punt on the inexperienced White.

While I'm as passionate as any Victorian supporter going around...I'm not getting too excited just yet (we also were at the top of the table at the half way mark last season).

This year however does look more promising....and in Feb we'll regain the services of one S Warne, I hear he can play a bit (I very much doubt he'll go on the Sri Lankan tour).

He should be able to add to the bowling depth and leadership void which DaveW has concerns about!

Nice attempt to save face mate, still haven't admitted that you were wrong though.

Yep, amazing how often Victoria play understrength sides. Guess we're extremely lucky.

One day we might get some credit from you for actually being a good cricket side.

We have infinitely more bowling depth then we do batting depth.

Not forced at all. Cameron White fully deserves the captaincy, his leadership is well noted. Perhaps Messr Blewett could have a look at how the 20 year old goes about it..............

Whether it's a 6 or 8 point lead doesn't worry me..it's a great Christmas present for the Bushrangers.
It just occurred to me that perhaps it should be an 8 point lead instead of 6 because I think that a team who wins 'by an innings and runs' should get 8 points for the win intead of 6. Just a thought.
