Further to this, I was told via my work that it is transport driver who transports international air crew from SYD to hotel quarantine that has tested positive. Has done some shopping at Bondi Junction
What are the chances he got off his air crew clients? Wouldnt they put up air crew at an airport hotel?

Nothing says 'our government is an authoritarian dictatorship' like sharing your thoughts on them freely without fear of repercussions.
Just because they're not banging down doors doesn't mean they're not supressing wrong think. The likes of you and the other Helen Lovejoys on more accessible social media platforms like Facebook have well and truly formed a strong brown-shirt mafia to lambast opposition and unequivocally support the Government's anti-freedom expansions all as a result of the press' morally bankrupt fear mongering over the past year.

We're in a sad, sad state of affairs with the blind leading the blind locking up the free.

Doesnt paint the entire picture as we ceased HQ from the feb lockdown until around mid April.
I agree HQ is broken and our quarantining of returned travellers needs serious restructuring. That does not make the goal of zero covid (until we get a significant portion of our population vaccinated) unobtainable.

If they're trying to suppress those who criticise them, they are doing a terrible job because Sky news is still allowed to come to pressers.

What’s your ideal quarantining situation? I just don’t see home quarantine as an option if you are living with other people and having visitors is hard to police.

Slam the borders shut, it's the only way we can be sure to live covid free/covid safe/covid normal.

If possible, we should be directing those who are unvaccinated and returning from countries with high infection rates to Howard Springs (or similar, not sure if we have other facilities), and only lower risk returnees should be going through hotel quarantine.

If that isn’t possible, we should be vaccinating anyone who enters hotel quarantine. It won’t provide them full protection but in their last week when, if they do contract the virus, it is most likely to not be picked up before they leave, it will provide a decent level of protection from infection. Yes, it is a bit unfair for them to jump the queue. But surely we can all see that HQ is the most likely place to be exposed to the virus in this country. Vaccines for those entering it provide tangible protection for all of us.
The other thing I think we should be doing is having those who have come through HQ follow the same restrictions as HQ workers (I’m pretty sure this mainly entails frequent saliva testing). The sooner we catch each person turning positive, the less exposure to the public is likely to occur.

I would be entertaining home quarantine now. I am not sure in what capacity though. When it has been brought up in the past I have been against it because hotel quarantine was working, and bringing in more returned travellers simply wasn’t worth the risk of the unknown. But now hotel quarantine isn’t working, it’s infecting the travellers. Home quarantine clearly removes that risk. As others have pointed out, we trust it for close contacts of confirmed cases. Like I said, not sure in what capacity, it would obviously need significant work to put in place. But worth looking in to.

Don't forget you can't touch the ball when kicked over the fence or you'll get the 'deadly beast'
Isn’t it amazing that all the sweaty players grappling with each other remain strangely immune?

The chances are 100%

Except for Australian citizens who have the right to return from Covid-infested countries… oh wait…

Andrews is not an authoritarian dictator, nor is his government. But you’d have to acknowledge he is presiding over a government that has completely abandoned the Westminster principles of ministerial accountability.

Well that's kind of the point of the state of emergency every state (along with the commonwealth) is under. Imagine if every single restriction change had to go through the parliamentary process? The rule around 500 people gathering at an event might finally be coming into effect after being proposed in March last year!

No it isn't! I'm not talking about lock down and restrictions and I'm fairly certain you know that. I'm talking about mismanagement and a repeated failure/refusal by this government to accept responsibility for its actions or inaction even when the facts are obvious to all and sundry.

Well the opposition here is a clownshow (and that is being kind) so we have a government that is able to be unaccountable because the alternative is so much worse.

That's a typical Victorian Labor response - blame someone else. Just because the Opposition is ineffective does not mean the government can and should be unaccountable. You've heard the expression, what goes around comes around?

Who is meant to hold the government accountable? As for the bolded, do you want to discuss things or do you just want to rant?

I heard there were no new cases today. Sutton must be ropeable
Yeah, so instead he flew to Canberra for an awards night and locked out an LGA which has had zero COVID cases.

Does Sutton now have to get tested and quarantine back into vic? Cases sparking up in NSW. Makes sense that he’d need to.

Not from ACT, nope.

As an aside I’ve been caught by the new restrictions because I went to the footy on QB. I checked in to the 3 spots I visited, none of which are a hotspot. I spent about an hour tops actually inside (the SCG counts as outside). I didn’t wear a mask because that’s not required under NSW restrictions. I used one cab. But because I was in the LGA, even though I only spoke to about 8 people, I am now considered amber to try and visit Melbourne for my mum’s birthday.

Did they contact you, or is it up to you to come forward? Is checking in standard for NSW? Here in Qld you sometimes see the QR sign but most people ignore them unless specifically asked.

No, I am fine. I’m not a close contact. But according to Sutton anyone who has visited one of three LGAs since Friday now needs to test and self iso when they come into Vic regardless of symptoms

Question. When you go interstate - and a few cases pop up from the state you came from and the state you are now in send out a statement saying “if you have come from XX you must get tested and isolate immediately”.

Do they actually contact you directly if they are able to (perhaps info from flights?) or is it on you to do the right thing??

Text messages via info from flights (border declaration form)

And you are going to of course…. I wouldn’t.
