Every month we seem to get a mini-magazine from Video Ezy with all the latest "news and features" relating to their media network. Mostly it's just promoting all the latest movies to come out on BluRay and DVD. What I found interesting is the so called 'reviews' they give certain games. Their review is simply just copied synopses from Wikipedia along with scores out of 10 for visuals, sound and gameplay.

First we have Duke Nukem Forever.
Visuals: 8/10
Sound: 8/10
Gameplay: 10/10

Red Faction: Armaggedon (Yes, that is how they spelt it).
Visuals: 9/10
Sound: 9/10
Gameplay: 9/10

Finally, inFAMOUS 2.
Visuals: 9/10
Sound: 8/10
Gameplay: 8/10

So there we have it. The worst game of the month is inFAMOUS 2, while Duke Nukem is revolutionary. Almost as bad as Good Game apparently giving Duke Nukem Forever a 9.5/10.

GG didn't give Duke a 9.5. IIRC Bajo gave it 9 and Bindi gave it 7. And Bajo said at the start and end that he was a massive fan boy

Edit: just checked, GG gave it an average of 7

Can't remember the game, it was a few years ago, but I remember Video Ezy reviewing a game a fair bit before release, which then later also got delayed by a couple of months. Must have been embarrassing highlighting that they hadn't played the game. I doubt they play any of the games.

Glenno in case you can't read due to your old age and baldness, I said "apparently". That's just what I got told, I don't watch that awful show anymore. It's also quite sad you've gone this far to try and 'disprove' one line of what I wrote, even though I said "apparently".

Why because you disagree with his opinion ??

Yes and I'd say most who've played both those games through to the end would agree with me.

No, it just seemed like he was trying to talk the "big, new game" up without thinking about it. It was a poor call and he didn't explain why. Petty yes, but it just made me think he doesn't really think what he's saying sometimes.

You're right.

Video Ezy should have given Duke 2/10, that would have the copies just flying off the shelves.
How much would they make out of game rentals?
wouldn't be much imo, and they can never sell them afterwards because they are either scratched to the shitous or/and they are priced more than what you can buy them new anywhere else.

Doesn't stop them trying.

They probably don't make much out of game rentals these days, but that doesn't change the fact it would be a poor move to rubbish something you were trying to sell, or in this case, rent out to people.

The employees at EB games don't tell people not to buy the shit games, rather they find mothers and grandparents looking for games to buy for their kids and try to pedal the high priced shit to them. You can almost hear the snickers seeping out from within as they push out Wii's and myriads of shovelware onto unsuspecting old people.

Old age maybe, but no baldness. Too much hair is my problem

Greyness yes, but that comes with 2 kids

It wasn't really hard. I knew what they gave in the review, so i youtubed it, printed the screen and cut it in paint. Then attached here. Took me about 3 minutes while i was waiting for bubs to wake up for her midnight snack

Edit: And if it was HBK making that post, you would have pulled him up on it.

And apparently you were wrong. I felt it was a cheap dig, and why would you care what Video Ezy give in their reviews? Does anybody?

If someone asks me what a game is like, i'll tell them if its shit, but i always recommend another game thats similar that might be better.

Telling anyone something you are selling is rubbish without giving them another choice or 2 is just bad business, But being honest is very good business

And i always tell them about the 7 day return policy too, so that if they don't like it, they aint stuck it

Although somewhat off topic...not that this topic has much juice left anyway.

Do you ever tell someone that a product that they are purchasing might be shit without them asking for your opinion?

So if someone picks up Rock Revolution, for example, will you say "you know, Guitar Hero/Rock Band is far and away the superior guitar/band/music game experience"?

Yep. Its just smart. It encourages customer loyalty and repeat business and it = sales growth :thumbsu:
