Villain and D.Dunn

Villain- Great run on Saturday. To get that close after the farcical pace (1st 1400m in 1.30) he'll win the Derby and if you can get 8's get on. Pillar Of Hercules on that run can't win the Derby. Good horse and was a good win but had all the favours. Villain to own him at Flemington in the Blue Riband.

D.Dunn- I took the short odds and what a disgrace Dunns ride was on Vormista. From the wide draw I expected him to ride her like the good thing she was. In the last bunch, maybe 2 or even 3 wide with cover, hook her out and let her down when balanced. To my disgust she was on the fence last with no where to go, I knew I was in trouble about 1000 out, then he persists in looking inside for about 150 metres (when the leaders were kicking) then decided to try and get her out, by then an impossible task. Surprised I havent heard or read much about it- Here, Sunday Sun, R & S, SEN?

Maybe you have to accept the fact that vormista was beaten by a better horse on the day!!

I have no problem with that. I would have liked the opportunity to find out though as Vormista was given zero chance of winning whilst Miss Fantabulous was given arguably the ride of the day by Michael Rodd.

Agree that it wasnt a great ride & it's easy after the event but she drew the carpark & had 3 goes on a good track without winning.
Backmarkers at Caulfield are always a worry, often run on but rarely get there.
Divine Madonna who is a true Gp1 mare started $3 in that race last year & couldnt win it.Got to Flem, ran 4th Derby Day & won the Emirates.

Vormista was plenty short, will get her chance on Derby Day at HQ.

I'd be willing to take on Villain after Lottorio's effort on Saturday. Top run.

Seth is spot on. The Divine Madonna formline from last year was almost identical. They had to ride her upside down at Caulfield and this took her sprint away.

Can't believe all the Vormista squealing. Fair dinkum it is well known that the Flem track was suspect and she is a get back type with a horror gate. Staggered people were happy to take $2.30. Was the lay of the day at that price. More like a $4 pop imo.

The aftertiming on here is sickening...

alot of talking out there pockets this time of year too

The lay of the day hey? Perhaps you could place these pearls of wisdom prior to the event as Ron is alluding to. Her gate was fine for a get back horse and I suppose her slashing finish to beat all but Gold Edition means that Moonee Valley is also suspect? Lay of the day, give me a spell.

As stated fullta I backed her, no problem. The ride was a disgrace and I cant believe the stewards have not quizzed him. Dunn gave her zero chance. I can handle losing a bet even on a less than great ride but that was a no contest as soon as he had her on the fence surrounded. Surely the stewards are entitled to ask " Mr.Dunn why were you so keen to get on the fence when your horse had come down the outside in its last 2 starts to win super impressively last time (same class field this time too)and nearly win a group 1 the previous run. Your mount was odds on yet you appeared to ride her for luck?????"

Everything Yablet said i agree with. He never at any stage tried to put Vormista in the race. I'm convinced he was told not to win as anyone could see plain as day he was doing everything in his power to *not* give her the best possible path home.

Ron,do you honestly believe that anyone would risk running a 5/4 chance dead during the Carnival?
This isnt Avoca picnics.

D Dunn might have slaughtered it but to even consider he would basically risk his career is laughable.

This thinking is right up there with thinking that teams pay off the umpires in AFL.
I didnt back it but have watched it 5x,misjudged sure but dead,no way IMO.

im with seth on this one, it was just a shit ride imo

your giving dunn too much respect if you think he did it on purpose

Line up her for your apologies to D.Dunn

Vormista has a fracture in her vertebrae & is out for the Spring.

Honestly, some of you guys think horses are machines.
Sometimes things just dont work out...thats why they let us bet on racing.

Dunn may have ridden her closer but considering she had a broken back,it wasnt a bad effort IMO.
