Lonergan?

I thought he was terrible.

Dyson was more effective than Lonergan. Stanton, Houli and Hille were decent.

17 touches, threw himself at every contest, 5 contested possessions, 6 clearances, just the one clanger 76% effectiveness. I did forget about Houli though decent game.

3. Lonergan
2. Hille
1. Winderlich

Others that did ok: Houli, Dyson, Stanton

Without being too negative, if NLM is playing in our first 22 this season I will probably vomit

You obviously don't put much value on winning the hard ball. Was our best by a long way.
Terrible? pfft

When your in standing room and drinking you dont tend to notice that stuff.

I just thought some of his disposal/decision making was shocking on a few occassions and cost us goals. Tackling game wasnt on either.

Hille
Houli
Lonergan

Cannot wait for McVeigh, Welsh, Prismall and Watson to be in the Midfield together.

1. Houli (his disposals need to become more damaging, he is such a beautiful kick, i'd much rather see him drilling a forward than bombing it in long everytime)

Winderlich showed last night just how good he is. Everytime he touched the ball he made the perfect decision and executed his disposal flawlessly. In the 3rd or 4th qtr I remember him deep on the half back flank. He ran inbound, drilled someone at almost centre half back. It was a lightning 40-45 meter pass, then 5 seconds later gets it back on the wing and then hits a target running into the forward fifty.

IMO aside from Hille, Winderlich has shown the most through this NAB cup. Reminded me just how good he will be if he stays cherry ripe!

Dyson was more effective than Lonergan.

Blasphemy.

Dyson kicked two goals, did a one two with Myers and also had an amazing two consecutive effective possessions apart from that, there wasn't much.
He did get that tackle too i suppose but there's no way it would have stuck if Hille didn't destroy whoever that collingwood player was.

We have to be realistic here. I said this 2 months ago that this year is another rebuilding year and I got blasted left right and centre for it. Our side is nowhere near a finals side yet. Beams looks an absolute gun and no wonder the Pies were temped to pull the trigger on him at pick 11..why the **** did we not draft him at 23 or whatever our 2nd rounder was!

FFS. We didn't draft him at 23 because we rated Zaharakis higher...

The love for Lonergan on this board is becoming insane.

He was ordinary with a capital 'o' last night.

FFS. ..with a capital 'o'? LMAO!

The only thing insane is the insane amount of times this bloke dishes the ball out of a pack to his team mates.

Last night?

Sadly, I lost count of the number of times we got beaten for the ball in contests in the midfield. We missed Jobe (who is our best in-and-under midfielder by a distance) enormously. God help us if he goes down with a serious injury this year.

I also lost count of the number of times Sam's disposal by both hand and foot was sloppy. His hamfisted 20m handpass at centre half back when he was clear with the ball and there were any number of options he could have picked out summed up our entire game for mine. It handed Collingwood a goal on a silver platter, and was plain bleeding awful.

The mate I was watching the game with and I were finding it hard last night to remember such a horrible turnover in the Essendon backline for years. The only ones that came readily to mind were Kepler's turnover on Anzac Day a couple of years ago, and the botched Madden-Kickett one-two in the 1990 second semi final.

You don't understand Watson's role at EFC.

Watson is a clearance King - That is he is good at winning the ball from stop plays - IN OTHER WORDS:CLEARANCES.

Lonergan is better at winning the ball from contested situations - which may involve him didving into packs to win the ball.

Yet we had more contested possessions and nearly twice as many clearances.
