Agree, he looked liked the most desperate mid out there but also showed quite a bit of class. Hes in a rich vein of form.

Daniher was very good but jeez that Jaksch kid needs to go back to the NEAFL and do some rapid development. One of the worst KPD perfomances of recent years.

Theres a bit of complacency out there about the Dees. Personally i'm worried. They've been solid and i think they'll do well tomorrow, while weve been patchy to say the least. Big danger game.

I think they'll push the Pies as well, they pushed Port and beat the Crows at AO must be on our game.

The best part is that due to the even nature of the comp this year.. we are only two wins away from 2nd place!

So. Got to watch the game finally!
So two lines of thought.
1. As far as the game goes, people have mentioned most of the good players, but overlook Stanton for some reason? He was a real general in that game. He and Hocking were the two that really stood up when the going got tough.
The umpiring was fine. No idea what people are on about. There were a few bad decisions but were evenly spread between both sides.
GWS played a seriously good game. It wasn't a threatening game because they were manning up on bigger harder bodies which always seemed like it had to fall our way. But how close were they to holding their own? If they play like that next year they will hold their own and then burn teams away with their pace off the ball.
2. Where are we at?
Seems a lot of people are skeptical about what our potential is this year... I can't help but think the reason for that is that our team has been all or nothing for so long. We've played on runs of form for years now, usually emotion driven. It seems people would be happier if we were doing the same thing now? Playing our hearts out each week, pumping the adrenalin up and hoping like hell we can keep it going long enough? Instead what we are doing is playing structural, clinical football with no adrenalin until we are pressed to get the win.
I don't know whether we will get the form going at the right time this year and run home strong or not... But i do think that there is absolutely no other way that we could go about football this year. Because we have run the emotions so high last year, there has to be a balance this year. The club needs to find its equilibrium and from what i can see it has done it beautifully. There is no doubt at all that the theory right now is to gather ourselves together, work on our fitness and skills, build an internal base of team options and styles of play. This is foundational stuff which is exactly what we have lacked in the past. Hird had to drag us by any means he could into becoming a decent football side. We got there, but now the next level had to be built. The only way you can work on this stuff is if you have achieved a level at which you can win ugly. You can't work on this sort of foundational stuff if you keep losing because then the lack of confidence take precedence. We are playing the sort of football that you frequently see good teams play during the middle of the season, where they look flat, but they keep finding a way.
Like i said, we may not come good, but that doesn't change the fact that we are going about it the right way right now.

GWS had a red hot crack. to win in slippery conditions that they clearly prefer was a good effort.

On other issues. If Myers gets rubbed out I will blow up afl house

Good post mate, not sure I agree on the Hocking really standing up bit though, was ok on Ward but he still managed to get plenty of the ball and Hocking was basically non existent in this area.

You've got me there. I was more going with someone else who singled him out, plus i did see a couple of pivotal plays that happened at crucial times (including his goal). Stantons stats were nothing to write home about either, but his intercept in defensive 50 late plus the timing of his goal were pure leadership.

Seriously? It looked to be a very deliberate elbow straight to his head. Unlike Myers' one which 'slipped' up the arm.

Both shouldnt have seen the light of day

If you choose to look at it that way, it still supports the GWS getting looked after theory.
Not GWS being looked after. More we are getting screwed. We should fight that charge. But big risk with watto getting injured

It's an 80 point charge. Doesn't matter either way
