Any truth in the story that Carey has been told by the crows to shape up or ship out? He's been told he's not fit enough and they want more games from him this 2004 season. Apparently it was reported on a radio station in Adelaide.

No - in fact just the opposite.

The CEO of the Crows, Stephen Trigg was talking about Carey amongst other things on 5AA this morning.

He said that Carey's fitness had been set back through soft tissue injuries as a result of being out of footy for so long, which was to be expected.

He went on to say that from the half way mark, as Carey's body began to re-adjust, he produced the type of footy that they thought he would provide. Unfortunately THAT point post then set him back again for a while.

Contrary to Melbourne press reports that love to say that there must be doubt over Carey for next year because of his age, Trigg said that the Crows expect a top season from him next year as he will get a proper pre-season which will improve his fitness out of sight.

I am confident that Wayne Carey will have a better year in 2004 than 2003, based on the fact he will have had a decent pre-season & won't have been out of the game for a year. He won't be the Carey of old with the Roos, but will still be worth his place in the side, like he showed at times this year. No problems with his motivation, as he will be desperate to win another flag, given the time is running out.

I agree with everything you are saying but I still think he won't play every game next year. He'll still miss 5-6 regular season games. I do expect his form to be a bit more consistent.

Spot on.

Also, Macca's been told to get a tan, Ricciuto's been warned to be harder at the footy and Bickley didn't retire - he was delisted.

It's amazing what the Port Board comes up with:rolleyes:

It was on the radio and I stupidly thought that Crows fans would be interested.

Also came from a reliable source from WITHIN the club.

I do not like my integrity questioned and Crows fans are starting to sound very much like they do not support their team but bag other teams.

what a heap of crap!!!

don't believe it for a second. Wayne is the man, the king - the AFC would have no grounds for such comments.

Absolute tripe.

Up yours.

Gee a short period of success and the arroagnace of you Doggies supporters is already closing in on Port Adelaide limits.

Must be good to have a club whose success is built on the fact that people who can't afford it pour money into your poker machines.:p

It did not come from a source within the club, you do not have a source within the club and don't try to convince ppl that you do.
