WAFL payments

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone knows the salary of WAFL teams or the average payment of players. Also what's it like in comparison to the VFL and the SANFL.

from memory the salary cap for clubs is around $80,000 and talking to a mate who plays WAFL, he says that WAFL players are played the least out of all state competitions despite being the 2nd most successful....

Your miles out with that figure of 80k ..the salary cap in the WAFL is around $250,000 per club a year.

Well, there's the official Salary Cap, and then there's the under-the-table payments that every club probably utilises.

Players in some amateur leagues and also South West league can get around $500-$800+ a game depending how good they are.. although those leagues are not meant to receive ANY money....

Pretty sure country leagues allow payments. The WAAFL which is the main metropolitan league is purely amateur and doesn't...supposedly. Payments are still evident at every club.

Kyle Hams last year signed for Busselton for reportedly $1000 a game but ended up at Swan Districts for a $10,000 sign on fee and $30,000 in incentives and match payments. That equates to about $1500 a game.

The salary cap was increased in 2012 to 217,000 from 200,000 (up from 2009).

Don't be jealous if successful clubs have a range of successful businessmen and women on their board who can offer employment outside of football to entice footballers to their club, it's smart.

2) They are, the third most successful club in the WAFL, and have one of, if not the largest supporter bases out of the WAFL teams.

As for supporter bases, the 2 Freo clubs are massive, and the Black Duckies definitely outnumber North Perth Royals.

East Fremantle, West Perth and East Perth are the three most successful clubs in order, so before you drift off into lala land, read your facts.

East Perth have not only a larger supporter base than East Fremantle, but also a higher membership.

The way I look at it, how many supporters would each WAFL club get if they were in the grand final game ?. From my observations over the years, the Freo teams would definitely have the most bums on the Subi seats on that day.

The North Perth Royals sound to be very well off financially, and have a good supporter base. All I'm saying is that from my above example, the Royals are on about the 4th rung.

I do know about the Royals supporter base, I was brought up in their district.

No true at all, I was at EF GF in 98 and 00, and on both times WP and EP had about 70% of the support in the crowd.
