The first week of the finals didn't fail to live up to expectations with some absolutely cracking games. South Fremantle gave Peel Thunder a scare late in the League qualifying final game on Saturday while Swan Districts managed to get it done in front of their home fans over West Perth in the elimination final on Sunday.

In the Reserves, both games were decided by less than a kick with Subiaco winning through to the second semi final while Swan Districts held on in what a superb elimination final over Perth. The Colts was just as good with East Perth winning a thriller by a point in the elimination final against Peel Thunder while Claremont prevailed over Swan Districts in the qualifying final.

In the tipping stakes though we had a number of tipsters score four points for the round but andana went one better, getting the bonus point in the Swan Districts vs West Perth game to get a score of five for the weekend. swannies managed to score the bonus point for the Saturday game between South Fremantle and Peel Thunder to boost his total to three.

After the first week of finals, andana has taken the lead with five points while there's a block of four tipsters sitting eagerly behind in equal second place.

We head into week two of the finals series and with the AFL back for its first week of the finals, the WAFL moves to Sundays for the rest of the season. The League matches see Subiaco and Peel Thunder do battle at Leederville Oval in the second semi final with the winner to go directly into the Grand Final. Subiaco are coming off the bye in the first week of the finals while Peel head into the game full of confidence after beating South Fremantle and also have a number of Fremantle players at their disposal as part of the AFL alignment. That match is also the telecast game this week with coverage starting at 2:30pm on Channel Seven with bouncedown at 2:40pm. The first semi final has South Fremantle hosting Swan Districts at Fremantle Community Bank Oval with South Fremantle looking to make amends from their loss in the qualifying final to Peel Thunder on the weekend. Swan Districts knocked off West Perth in a brilliant elimination final on Sunday and will be looking to take their finals campaign a step further with a win. That game will get underway at 2:15pm.

In the Reserves, South Fremantle host Subiaco in the second semi final at Leederville Oval with the match scheduled to begin at 9:10am. In the first semi final, Claremont will lock horns with Swan Districts at Fremantle Community Bank Oval with bouncedown at 11:25am.

The Colts' fixtures sees East Fremantle taking on Claremont in the second semi final at Leederville Oval at 12pm while at 8:50am, Swan Districts play East Perth at Fremantle Community Bank Oval in the first semi final in what is the first of Swans' three games that day. Expect a big crowd down at Fremantle with Swans contesting all three finals there.

Also, the WAFL Footy Radio app is providing radio coverage of the Reserves game between Claremont and Swan Districts and also the Colts match between Swan Districts and East Perth. If you're keen to listen to the younger up and coming players, download the app and you can listen to the matches being called live.

The weather on Sunday is expected to be wet with showers developing and a maximum of 20 degrees predicted at this stage. You'll more than likely need a jacket so make sure you take one if you're at the games on Sunday. One week of finals is down and hopefully the second week produces just as many good games as the first one with the semi finals upon us. Happy Tipping!!

Unfortunately the semi finals didn't quite live up to expectations as what the first week of finals did with a number of one-sided games amongst the six that were played. Swan Districts had a bad day with all three sides losing their first semi finals seeing them all eliminated from the premiership race.

Tipping wise it was samFFC who was the standout getting five of the six games correct while Spanna_ and masai tied for the bonus point this week.

After week two of the finals andana has been joined by samFFC at the top of the ladder with nine points while masai and Spanna_ both have a share of equal third place with getgaff on eight points.

Finals Week Three Fixtures

League: Subiaco vs South Fremantle at Leederville Oval (2:40pm, margin)
Reserves: Subiaco vs Claremont at Leederville Oval (11:50am)
Colts: Claremont vs East Perth at Leederville Oval (9:15am)

The semi finals are done and we now head into the preliminary finals in week three of the finals series with all games on Sunday. The League final sees Subiaco host South Fremantle at Leederville Oval in what promises to be a highly entertaining contest with the winner to progress through to the Grand Final next week. This match is our margin game this weekend and you can catch all the action on Channel Seven from 2:30pm with bouncedown at 2:40pm.

In the Reserves Subiaco are also playing host, this time to traditional rival Claremont in the preliminary final. These sides met each other in the Qualifying final a couple of weeks ago with Subiaco winning a thriller by two points. That match could be a preview for what happens on Sunday as both teams look to enter the decider next Sunday.

The Colts has Claremont taking on East Perth in the preliminary final. Claremont came up short against East Fremantle last week while East Perth finished the season fifth, won their elimination final over Peel Thunder by a point before steamrolling Swan Districts last Sunday to storm into the third week of the finals. Last time these two played each East Perth won by a point after trailing all day and will be keen to avenge last year's Grand Final loss to the Tigers in the Colts so this game promises to be a cracker.

The WAFL Footy Radio App is broadcasting both the Reserves and Colts' matches this weekend so you can catch all the action on the app for each of those games. All you need to do is download the app and go through the radio section on the app which will enable you to listen to each match and check out the progress of your club's teams in the other grades.

The weather is looking alright for Sunday, we could get a morning shower or two but a sunny afternoon is expected with a maximum of 22 degrees. Hopefully the rain will stay away and we'll see some quality dry weather finals football.

Well there's a lot to play for this weekend, we're pretty deep into the finals now and there's no tomorrow for the losers while the winners get a crack at premiership glory. Sunday is promising to be a great day and here's hoping we'll see three really good contests on the weekend. Happy tipping!!

FiveStrings 0 3

The Preliminary finals all had their moments on the weekend with each game providing some entertaining and close football at times. In the end it was all three home teams who triumphed and won through to the Grand Finals. A number of tipsters selected all three games correctly but Kram was the pick of the bunch, getting all three matches correct and also getting the bonus point after being only one point off the margin.

With one round left in the finals tipping competition, samFFC has moved into the lead on 12 points, getgaff is now up to second with 11 points while Spanna_ is outright third on 10 points.

Finals Week Four Fixtures

League: Peel Thunder vs Subiaco at Subiaco Oval (2:50pm, margin)
Reserves: South Fremantle vs Subiaco at Subiaco Oval (11:20am)
Colts: East Fremantle vs Claremont at Subiaco Oval (8:40am, neutral venue)

Well after an intriguing and closely fought out season we have reached the Grand Finals which will be played at Subiaco Oval for the last time this Sunday. The League match sees Peel Thunder take on Subiaco in what promises to be a fairly entertaining encounter. The Reserves' game sees South Fremantle battle Subiaco while in the Colts it's East Fremantle going up against Claremont.

All three games have promise with each game seeing the top two teams in each grade play off in the Grand Final for the premiership so hopefully we'll see some tough, tight but fair matches on the weekend.

The weather is, well, not looking great. Sunday is expected to be pretty wet with rain expected mostly in the afternoon and evening with the potential for a thunderstorm as well while there may be some heavy falls near the coast. 18 degrees is the expected maximum on Sunday with 6-20mm of rain predicted at this stage. If you're there for the game, make sure you rug up or perhaps sit under one of the grandstands somewhere to get away from the rain.

If you're interested in the other Grand Finals during the day, the WAFL Footy Radio App is covering the Colts and Reserves' Grand Finals. All you need to do is download the app, head to the live radio part of the app, plug in the headphones and listen to the telecast!

I hope everyone has a fantastic Grand Final day and hopefully we won't see too much rain so that we can have some great games during the day. Make sure you also have a great long weekend as well and as always, happy tipping!!
