The preliminary finals didn't produce too many surprises with each of the favourites winning in all three games. The Colts' match was a good game for most of the day until Claremont pulled away in the final term while South Fremantle were challenged by Claremont in the League match during the second quarter but managed to produce a strong second half to come away with the win.

For the tipsters, this lead to mostly a score of two or three for the round but Kram went one better, tipping all three matches correctly and getting the bonus point for tipping the exact winning margin of 30 points.

After week three of the finals series, RickSanchez remains in the lead but has been joined by Kram on 15 points with myself and Monocle sitting in a tie for third place on 12 points.

Finals - Week Four Fixtures

League: Subiaco vs South Fremantle at Perth Stadium (2:40pm, margin, neutral venue)
Reserves: Claremont vs West Perth at Perth Stadium (8:40am, neutral venue)
Colts: Peel Thunder vs Claremont at Perth Stadium (11:40am, neutral venue)

After 20 rounds and three weeks of finals, the season comes down to this with the Grand Finals across all three grades to be played on Sunday at Perth Stadium.

The League Grand Final has Subiaco taking on South Fremantle to decided the 135th WAFL premiership. Subiaco have shown good form all season and won straight through to the Grand Final with their win in the second semi final over South Fremantle. It was a tight tussle for the first half but the Lions put in a strong effort in the third quarter, kicking six goals to nil to give themselves a handy lead at three quarter time and one that helped them qualify for the decider. South Fremantle have shown form when it has counted, they started the season fairly well, had a bit of a rough patch in the back end of the season before hitting top form just before and during the finals series to get through to this year's Grand Final. Both of these clubs have played in some great finals over the past decade or so and this match is looking much the same with the competition's two best teams to duke it out for the 2019 premiership in what is promising to be a great match. This match is one of two margin games this weekend with bouncedown scheduled for 2:40pm with the match to be covered by Channel Seven.

The Reserves' Grand Final begins the day as Claremont face off against West Perth with this game to get underway at 8:40am. Claremont have been the best team all year in the Reserves, having won all but one game during the year to finish five games clear on top of the ladder. The Tigers did it fairly easily in the second semi final, defeating West Perth by 77 points to qualify for the Grand Final and enter the game looking to finish their season in style. West Perth finished the season in second place on the ladder, an improved performance from last season which saw them finish in fourth place before losing in week one of the finals. West Perth managed to pick themselves up from their second semi final loss and accounted for East Fremantle quite easily in the preliminary final to get a second crack at Claremont in the final match of the year and they'll be desperate to atone for their defeat a couple of weeks ago. Expect a good contest here as both teams look set to have a red got go in the Grand Final.

The Colts' Grand Final has Peel Thunder playing against Claremont at 11:40am. Peel Thunder have been the competition's best side in the Colts all season, dropping just two games along the way, one of which was to the Tigers in Round Six. The Thunder then had a solid win over Claremont in the second semi final to qualify for this year's decider. Claremont finished the season in second position on the ladder and scored a narrow win over West Perth in the qualifying final before losing to Peel Thunder in the second semi and then again defeated West Perth, this time in the preliminary final last week. Both home and away season matches between the two sides were fairly close so expect another close encounter here as both sides do battle to see who will come away with the Colts' premiership. This match begins Channel Seven's WAFL coverage on Sunday with the telecast to begin at 11:30am with this match scheduled for an 11:40am bouncedown.

The weather for Sunday is looking great with a sunny day and a maximum of 22 degrees predicted. Light winds are also expected for the afternoon although the morning will be cool with a minimum of only seven degrees. Nonetheless, it will be perfect weather for each of the Grand Finals on Sunday.

Well, close to six months of matches have been played and it all comes down to this. Two teams will battle it out for the premiership in each grade with one team to finish the season as this year's premiers. We've seen some great football this year with some super games and hopefully we can see some good skills and great games on Sunday with hopefully a big crowd in to watch the games throughout the day. I hope everyone has a fantastic Grand Final day and don't forget, happy tipping!!

Season 2019 has come to an end which also brings us to the finish of the 2019 BigFooty WAFL Finals Tipping Competition. Grand Final day provided some mixed results with the Colts and Reserves' games proving to be exceptionally good matches while the League game ended up being a very one-sided contest.

The Reserves' game started the day with Claremont taking on West Perth in the morning. The match was a tight one right up until half time before West Perth kicked 4.5 in the third quarter to break the game open, giving themselves a 10 point buffer at the final change. Claremont came back hard in the last quarter but the Falcons did enough to hold on and secure victory by six points, their first Reserves' premiership since 2014. It was a heartbreaking loss for the Tigers, having spent all season on top of the ladder losing just one home and away match for the season before falling short in the decider.

The Colts' game between Peel Thunder and Claremont followed which mirrored the Reserves' match for the most part. Both clubs were neck and neck until half time before Peel Thunder booted 3.4 in the third term to give themselves a 14 point lead at three quarter time. Claremont charged home in the final quarter, hitting the lead at the 16 and a half minute mark only for Peel to take the lead back four minutes later. A goal at the 22 and a half minute mark saw the Tigers regain the lead and from there they defended grimly with a match saving smother on a kick for goal inside the last 15 seconds securing the Tigers the premiership, their first Colts' flag since 2016. The result was a bitterly disappointing one for the Thunder, having spent the majority of the season on top of the ladder and had only lost two games all year before the Grand Final.

The League match had Subiaco taking on South Fremantle on Sunday afternoon. The game itself started out as a tight tussle with both sides matching each other across the park in the opening 10 minutes in what had the potential to be a repeat of the two games that took place earlier in the day. From there though, Subiaco took complete control of the game, leading the match at every change before winning by 96 points to claim back-to-back premierships and their 15th premiership overall. The winning margin of 96 points was the second biggest in WAFL history with South Fremantle's score of 3.6 (24) being the fifth lowest score in a Grand Final I believe. Ben Sokol claimed the Simpson Medal for Best on Ground after kicking six goals, Kyal Horsley and Lachlan Delahunty were prolific in the midfield and ruck respectively while Michael Braut played an excellent game in defence.

From a tipping perspective, the upsets in the Colts and Reserves' games played havoc with each tipster managing just one tip or less from the three games that took place. The bonus point this week went to gaskin with his prediction of 57 points closest to Subiaco's 96 point winning margin.

With the finals coming to an end, we have a winner for the finals tipping competition and this year it is a tie with RickSanchez and Kram both finishing on 16 points. After scoring two points in the Grand Final round, gaskin moved into a three way tie for third place along with Monocle and myself on 13 points overall.

Well, that concludes the BigFooty WAFL Tipping competition and finals tipping competition for 2019. Thanks to everyone for participating this season and I hope this competition and the board in general has made your WAFL season more enjoyable throughout the year. Thanks to Chief and the team here at BigFooty for their ongoing support of the competition once again in 2019, their support has been fantastic over the past few years and it was great having them on board again this season. Hopefully we will be back with a bigger and better competition next year for the WAFL in season 2020. Despite the season being over, stick around in the off-season for our dedicated off-season thread containing information on player movements, awards, news, chat and other information for the WAFL which will be up and running in a couple of weeks or so.

Cheers! :thumbsu:

Sorry hansie, I missed your tip. That gives you a score of one for the round and outright sixth position.

I've amended the final ladder to reflect this now.
