He needs to get over it in the reserves . Yes their is a time to mourn and a time to move on . He better get moving or he will be movin back to SA end of year. He looks so pathetic it was embarrasing

May be you are correct, may be it is not relevant. However, as Kane249 also said above, most of them have close knit families and some (not all) initially struggle to adjust to the AFL environment away from their home state. So if there is a family tragedy on top of all this, does it not make their transition to AFL even harder?

People aren't robots, some deal with it better than others.

Dion Woods is a classic example of this, he was very close to his dad and when he passed away he was never the same player. Showed some good promise for Freo before it happens, but after he turned to alcohol to cope with his loss and things spiraled from there.

I'd swap Newman and Karpany at the end of the season in terms of demotion and promotion to the rookie list.

It's labelled as a poor draft this year, would rather retain Karpany and put him on an incentive based deal than go the unknown.

It's a poor draft though, we are more likely to pick up another worse dud like a Papertalk, Bedford etc

He was pre-season draft, reinvented himself from a medium sized forward to a midfielder as well.

Regardless of Karpany's unfortunate circumstances, it's a cut throat business this one and certain boxes must be ticked playing a professional sport.

In his case, improvement is no doubt the main thing, and he appears to have failed in that area thus far. Still has half a WAFL season to go, but doesn't look good now if he's playing reserves.

Fremantle will have their own harsh decision to make on Morabito at seasons end. It's part of the 'game'
