College had only 1 tackle and he's an inside mid.

Lucas is getting plenty of the ball. He and Hutchings have to be next in line if injuries hit.

College isn't an inside mid

Surely you'd know by now to take any affiliated website's bests as only partially indicative of actual form.

Yeah I know, just wondering how they managed to leave him out.

The West's report had him second behind Blee. Barrass and Newman in there as well, but no Lucas.

People should read too much into Colledges disposal numbers. He's had forty disposal games playing on ball and the vast majority where on the outside and generally meaningless statistics that didn't positively contribute to East Perths overall performance. They lost a few of those games. Colledge is more than capable of having a 20 disposal game where he has much more impact; if he has five clearances, a few goal assists, presents and gets a few good marks on the wings and flanks and drives the ball forward quickly and accurately then he'd have had a good game compared to him getting a long way of up the ground and getting a lot of stats out the back of stoppages and along the wings. Better to let another player do the work of three of Colledge's disposals in a single disposal and in a fraction of the time.

Kane Lucas, 30 disposals, 0 tackles, enough said.
East Perth as a whole only laid 42 tackles. Compare that with Geelong today who laid 95 tackles.

McNamara was named EF's best, and laid 0 tackles. Out of the two sides, a total of 22 players laid either 0 tackles or 1 tackle for the entire match.

Hardly enough said.

THE WEST AUSTRALIAN "AFL WATCH"

Corey Adamson :
Kicked 80m goal early in debut and used his strength to good effect as an inside mid.
Tom Barrass : Continues to dominate as a key defender . Had 11 disposals and five intercept marks .
Paddy Brophy : Had 15 disposals as a running defender .
Damien Cavka : Gathered 11 possessions on debut playing mostly as a small forward .
Brandt Colledge : Did his job on-ball and as a high forward to gather 16 disposals .
Mark Hutchings : Brilliant start to set up game , thereafter influential with 31 disposals as a senior on-baller .
Kane Lucas : Strong second half on a wing enabled him to get 30 touches .
Dylan Main : Played wing and half-back in the reserves . Finished with 21 touches .
Fraser McInnes : Busy with 16 disposals and 15 hit-outs as a key forward and back-up ruckman .
Murray Newman : Three goals and 14 disposals made him a productive small forward .
Rowen Powell : No great impact with just 10 possessions as a key forward .

Have a spare Key Defender and Key Forward in form , Hutchings as midfield reserve and good signs with Adamson showing some signs he might play AFL one day , an eighty metre centre clearance goal in the first quarter is a good start to your Senior career .... wait and see .

Any bets on who the next rookie promotion will go to? Sounds like Newman and Adamson are putting their hands up.

Brophy would be well ahead of Adamson I'd think. Probably Powell as well.

Moot point in any event, if we were having the season we thought we were going to have after the derby (ie a bottom 6 finish) then we might have blooded some of those guys, but since we're very much in the hunt for the top 4 I doubt we'll see any project players in the seniors.

Powell is closer to EP reserves than the other two, probably in two weeks if the sports scientists ever release Lycett.

Do you know what's the deal with Lycett?

And Waterman?
