Good work Apuchar. Wow, only 12 days away. Think I'll be getting to one of those games depending on the venues.

I just hope our young players will be playing. They sometimes are forced by the AFL to have a week off before the afl season.

Cant for the life of me think why ABC TV AND 720 would be covering the same game.. unless its to save coin in travel costs?

May as well start a thread for this years WAFL. Looks like Menegola, Ibbotson and Sutcliffe had excellent games today. Duffy and Howson not so good.

No Forster for Swans still

Be nice to see Tabberner running around. Seems to be making a rapid recovery from the kissing flu.

He got through the full session on Thursday and didn't look to have any negative effects from it so he should be right to go.

Dont know if this has been covered anywhere else but watched the first quarter of the peel game after the dockers. Michie was killing it in the middle. Moller and Hannath great in the ruck and Moller pushing down back getting quite a few possesions and Hannath pushing forward kicking a goal. Pitt not getting involved at all. Crighton? busy off half back. Tanner Smith playing at centre half forward a few possesions. Forster i didn't see do much from where i was.
Unfortunately i then had to go home. :(

Yep, agree on all of this. Didn't know Forster was playing. Didn't notice him at all. Smith was competitive but reminds me a bit of Kepler. Moller showed some great application. Laid a smother that resulted in a goal, which I was really impressed with, then ran to good spaces. Can't wait to see this kid with some weight on him. Going to be a dominator.

Was at the game Duffy carried off on a stretcher looks like concussion from being slung in a tackle in the third qtr.

Duffy got caught holding the ball about 4 times previous to the sling, he's really ahead of himself, if their can be a silver lining from his concussion today it might make him release on the first option.

A few quick notes:

1) Ibbotson replacement?
Clancee Pearce played quite a bit of the game off the HBF and looked superb. His spot up kicking is exceptional. Could turn into our Shannon Hurn / Josh Hunt style small backman. Suban played probably 30% down back and looked much like the old Suban. When he was played in the midfield looked much much better.

2) Danyle Pearce has earnt his spot in the 22, worked hard, chased, used his long kicking as a weapon

3) Fyfe enjoys shrugging tackles, it seems to take 2 players to take him down most of the time and was dominant, is NOT injured

4) Michael Johnson shaked off some of the rust, looked much better

5) McPharlin still looks rusty, dropping marks he'd usually gobble up, but is fit

6) Mayne is possibly more threatening up front than the big Pavlova, attacks marking contests like no other, these 2 are our best forwards

7) Walters and Ballantyne love picking up the scraps the above 2 create

8) Jon Griffin and Zac Clarke will be picked over Keplar and Hannath very easily for round 1

E and I also stayed for the first half of the Peel game and it's no exaggeration to say Michie was killing it. He had the first possession of the game and then singlehandedly won the next two centre clearances. Completely owned the centre square in the early part of the game. He looks every inch a natural footballer, reads the ball off the ruckman's hands beautifully.

I did notice he was looking pretty spent close to half time so I think he's still lagging a little when it comes to fitness, but he looks a talent for sure and it's easy to see why the club has shown such faith in him.

My first look at Moller and I was very impressed. I feared he might be an athlete we were trying to turn into a footy player, but he looks like a natural out there. Very agile and very good with the ball below his knees.
