Yeah...wasn't his last game, but Mick tried to let him get a goal in the black and white...too bad it didn't happen.

Last year!!!

I'm not sure still. I actually thought he was good vs the Eagles. I'm pretty sure it should be his last year but I don't yet think he's finished. Nowhere near in the Licuria class just yet.

Being rushed in at the last minute after not preparing for a game can't help too much.

yeh agree lenny, thought his first 2 games were pretty good actually, and was carrying a corky in the richy game....wasnt terrible and he still has a role to play. I think maybe 1 more year at the max. but yes his demise is greatly exaggerated

he wasnt switched on. its hard getting ur gear off and ready 5 mins b4 u play the game. its jus as good as going into a game under done. dun write him off quite yet.

I've always been a fan, but he looked painfully slow. Of course, he was carrying some kind of leg injury.

Maxwell and Cox should be preferred to Wakes for the rest of the year.

I know he will be the first man looked to if one of our key defenders go down. Obviously his last year.

Jesus... tore his quad early in the 1st quarter, was brave to just be on the ground

Can't believe anyone had suggested he has played well. He has not been good in any off his games.

I agree time is just about up for wakes.

Has been a good servant and great value for us as a late draft pick but he just looks a little slow to me.

Lol, how long did it take you to make that rubbish up!

Ever tried to play with a quad injury, especially if its torn?

Not possible

He did something to his quad, the commentators pointed it out too.

One of, if not the best disposer by foot (both left and right) of the footy in the side. Did cop a corky that limited his mobility. Still has a role, depending on match ups.

You can still play with a torn quad, very difficult and painful to kick, but you can still run. Just ask that twerp Akermanis ( who had done his quad)whose snap in the 2002 granny sealed victory for the Lions

I think Aker hurt his groin.

Playing with a torn quad is almost impossible whereas a "Corky" is manageable depending on the severity.

Lift your leg up with your hand on your quad and see what you feel... lord knows those quad stretches aren't for nothing!
I've torn mine twice playing footy... running with such an injury immensly painful and impossible to sustain - hell, even walking with a bent leg hurts!
(in my experience anyway; conceed that it probably depends on the degree of the tear)

Not finished.....has an important role to play this year helping to usher the younger guys (O'Brien, Cox) into the backline. These kids have shown a bit but will find the going tough at stages and this is when Wakes is needed.

Will his time be up come season end? Most likely, but his skills are still very good. He still reads the play wonderfully and when healthy is still a very serviceable player.
