Speaking from experience, there's less chance of complications with a collarbone over a lower forearm/wrist. Collarbone breaks are usually not near it's two joints so once it's pinned you get back the mobility and can keep up your cardiowork (bike first few weeks then straight back into running). Could still be a fair few weeks (6-8) but shouldn't have any probs when he gets back.

Any truth to the rumour that thylacine was seen driving a tractor in the vicinity of the MCG?

PooMonkey can give us an update from his physio...

Sorry for the black humour, but I'd be gutted for Walker if it's another shoulder injury.

Ease up, not my style.

gone where? hopefully its just the collar bone and Walks is back around round 13
What do you think I mean by gone? :p

Delisted, traded, so on and so forth.

Me too, busted a collarbone in a bike crash. Mine needed surgery, cos of where it was, but most of them heal ok by themselves.
If it's a pin or something it'll be quick, but a plate has min 4 months on the collarbone. A pin is fiddly though. Fingers crossed for him
Four to six weeks.

I'm guessing that the plate is placed on the collarbone to reinforce the broken bone as the graft knits.

/Bluebear :p

Carlton finds its consistency
Walker may not be missing for as long as first feared, with doctors optimistic that he may miss only four-to-six weeks.

Walker had surgery last night to repair the clavicle with a bone graft and had a plate inserted in the shoulder.

While the fractured collarbone is a setback he was fortunate not to have damaged his shoulder joint - which had previously been reconstructed - in the incident.

Thankfully there wasn't any damage to the shoulder joint.

All possibilities considered, a broken collarbone is the best problem to have. Get well Tex, come back in the same form you left with, and help us make the finals again.

Collar bones aren't a real problem and heal very quickly.

What a wuss was Walker sucking on medication for just a collarbone.
I'd stick him straight back into the side next week. :D
