He had 15 possies and 8 Clangers, really needs to improve in his disposal or he will be worthless to us in the future, great potential but terrible by foot.

been done and done and done and done again ....

yes he needs work on his disposal by foot ... but his endeavour out there and ability to run, win the ball, link our midfield together and his defensive pressure is sensational at the moment.

i'm not worried about his disposal because I know it's going to fix itself. I think he doesn't realise how good he is at getting into space. He is super quick and once he understands that he has more time than he thinks he has, he will steady and kick it perfectly.

he needs his teammates to be talking to him and letting him know he has more time.

The issue is that he's holding onto the ball for far too long when he's going on those long runs of his. He's got to learn to assess his options quicker and use his teammates to his left and right.

Absolutely spot on.

Good player mind you.
May win a car the way he goes for marks,
he gets up there, now he has to bring one down.

If he wasn't getting it, i'd be more worried. The fact he is getting the footy is a good thing in itself. Once he learns to compose himself before he disposes of it, you'll find his disposal will become alot better.

Definetly a problem at the moment, but as others have said, the other aspects of his game are great, and his disposal will improve with time. By the way, how many bounces did he have on the weekend? Ran down the wing heaps of time, if he was able to hit targets with his kicking would have been very valuable.

It's a confidence thing, he is finally getting the ball.... confidence is rising, and if it keeps rising, he will be making nipples red on team mates chests when he hits them that hard by foot.

You're right there Stokesy, I wouldn't be getting too worried about it, yes his disposal of late has let him and the team down, but once he gets back the confidence like he had the year before he was drafted, he will be absolutely drilling team mates either with either feet!!!

yea thats fair enough but if your kickin needs workin on now, then theres trouble. kicking is what you learn first up when youre a kid. if its bad now, it can improve but to what? above average kick? good kicks have always had a good kick. im very worried about his kicking.

but what you don't learn is to kick when you think the best players in world are 1cm away from tackling you(even when they aren't). you can only learn that in the AFL

Two words. Earl. Spaulding. If we could teach him to kick, we can teach anyone.

My point was that if he had better disposal, especially against the Eagles where he found plenty of space and used his super quick pace he would have been the match winner as he had plenty of opportunity to really hurt the Eagles and more to the point to really hurt Cousins who he was playing on for the whole game. Really showed some Judd like pace and ability to accelerate away from opponents just needs the disposal skills.:thumbsu: :thumbsu: :thumbsu:

It's a lot different kicking good at training than playing in a match under pressure. In my own experiences, I've seen guys kick goals beatufilly when training / not in a match, yet when going for goal in an actual match, not even make the distance. Once he's confident and is able to handle the pressure during a game, I'm sure his kicking will improve.

Watched him play some bloody great games this year. Lets not get carried away on the emotion.

I don't think Walker is playing as well as he did earlier in the season. I feel he has lost a little confidence. A few times against WC he fumbled and also went to ground. Is a great talent but has imo dropped off the pace slightly.

me and my mates always looked away when he was kicking for goal...
