Richmond
I have been watching Richmond since 1995 and in that time this has to be the low of low's. We had a excuse after excuse for our under perfomance and not palying finals football is waring me down, it is becoming the norm, expected.

The response in recent times is to bring in the best coach(over rated) we could find. Who devised a long term plan to get the Tigers back on track. Now if I checkpoint this plan which is now well underway I am still seeing a decline, there is no evidence that we are on the right track at all. If we have our best possible team on the track we would still be rated in the bottom four. The younger talent in my opinion is over all lower than the medium benchmark.

In a comercial bsuiness there would have been changes! Perhaps this was part of the problem previously when we cycled coaches too quickly so I have gone with the benefit of the doubt on Terry Wallace.

I do not think we should be panicing - it is too late for that. My faith in Terry Wallace is fading faster than his suntan.

Wallace must go?

What a tosser! He has a contract that has 2 and a half years left which would have to be paid out ... money we do not have ... not that I want that to occur anyway ... I believe that our problems run far deeper than the coaches, after all they do not run out on the paddock and play.

Our biggest problem lies in the fact we have one of the 3 lowest revenue streams in the AFL. With a low revenue base we cannot compete financially with clubs like West Coast, Adelaide or the scum.

Our football department spending is restricted courtesy of the low revenue base therefore, using business analogies, we cannot benchmark ourselves against the top sides in the competition.

The current review taking place at the club appears to have odentified some weaknesses in certain areas eg Greg Miller being spread too thin as he wears so many hats and we spend SFA on recruiting. Not trying to criticise GM here as funds have dictated in the past he had to wear all the hats as we could not afford otherwise.

If the area of recruitment was beefed up for instance we could have potential draftees looked at more closely and in more games with greater analysis of strengths, weaknesses, medical history etc

We need to have a talent scout at every TAC Cup game, SANFL and WAFL Colts games but we have previously been unable to afford interstate scouts, still doubt we will after the football dept restructure which will still leave us behind the big earning clubs.

Its not TW, GM or anyone else's fault we need a massive injection of funds to get things up to the same levels of the clubs mentioned above. We need the building blocks put in place in order to compete for the long term rather than any short term fixes like sacking a coach half way through a contract.

He aint the problem mate.
Once they leave the sheds there's only so much he can do.
It's not his fault that all our players besides Foley & perhaps Hughes - appeared drunk. It's so true in footy that more often than not you can only play in the manner your opposition allows.
Coach Wallace can't run that extra gut-busting 10 metres to get to a contest.
He can't sprint 120 metres to the backline to follow his man. If a player needs a coach to remind him to "follow your man" or "get in front" or "guard that zone" or "don't bomb to a contest when Richo is double-teamed" well the player is surely the one to point the finger at.
This disaster appears to have been building up over the previous 5 weeks - but of course nobody expected the loss to be so devastating. While we were competitive in the previous 5 - and we were for no reward - we ultimately lost and it all went pear-shaped on game day in round 6. Given it's such a young list this must have all just overflowed into the total mental breakdown last Sunday - and that's exactly what it was - a total mental implosion.
Sure, he has to motivate them and have them ready to rock 'n' roll....but who will ever know the reason for that performance. You could write a thesis and still never really know but I don't think it's the coach. Geelong were physically bigger & stronger and altogether faster - or so it appeared.
He took a gamble by starting Raines, Deleidio, Foley in the guts v Cats - didn't work out but he wouldn't be the first coach to gamble and come up empty. I've watched possibly a 250 Tiger games and I've never, ever seen a team so primed to play as the Cats were in that 1st 10-15 minutes on Sunday. Credit must go to the Cats & their coaching/support staff.
Console yourself with the knowledge that we'll play better next week as it genuinely does not get any worse than that Sunday debacle - it simply CANNOT get any worse than that!
I never make excuses for other people bcoz I'm too busy making them for myself but hang in there whopper - things will improve - it's just a matter of 'when' I guess!

KEEP THE FAITH!!!! GO TIGERS!!!!

What tosser that set us back another 5 years. We have put up with for decades have the faith and keep going to the games an looseing your voice.See ya's in Adelaide GO TIGERS

Most coaches in the AFL get 5+years to coach their side. I gave examples in another thread with Daniher/Thompson/Connolly etc.

Our club never seems to give a coach long enough but I think this time we are going to do the right thing...Gary March said we'll stick with Terry as long as he keeps to his plan which I think he will.

Great thanks sante for stating the obvious!!!!

I'm all for free speech and everything, but can we get rid of this thread. It embarrases everyone on this board and gives a lot of reason for trolls to have a go at us from other clubs

Our problem over the past has been exactly what you're suggesting you clown. We need to build a stable team with a stable coaching staff. Giving Terry the flick will just make the whole place lack stabilty and and function. Its bad enough as it is but Terry is the right man for the job.
You sound committed a big 1995 supporter... Jump on for the ride did you after our big show in the Semi?
