He has always been up against it due to his slow pace, but a bad training attitude to boot does not bode well for this talented kid.

Going to be hard to catch up to the rest of the group whilst training down at semi-pro level.

Thanks DRD. That was short, sharp and direct. It really does set the tone that talent alone is not going to cut it at Freo now if you do not measure up.

Long term I think that this is exactly what had to happen. It could be the making of him as a player. Unfortunately, it will be more likely another waste of talent at Freo. The good thing is that there are a lot of other talented kids lining up to take his position that give 100%.

Grew up on the sane street as Naitanui and Yarran. This may be part of the reason why those two went at #2 and #6 while Son-Son was in the 50s, cos he seemed to be rated a lot higher in his draft year...

Agree on the tough stance. Going to be interesting to see how he gets up to AFL physical standard by training with a WAFL club. He needs to completely rewire his mindset, and will have to some extra training on his own.

I like Walters but this is the professionalism that the Dockers have always needed from a coach who knows the team he needs (talent, fitness and dedication) to match it with the best.

What are the rules around sacking a senior player, paying him out and upgrading a rookie? Can we do that?

Obviously it'd be better if Walters had some epiphany about his future and pulled his finger out but it'd be a waste of time if we nursed him through the WAFL only to find no change in his attitude and delisted him at year's end.

Honestly I'm surprised he wasn't delisted at the end of last year. 2 full preseasons later and he's still unfit. Now in his 3rd and he still can't make the grade. Even contestants on the biggest loser can do better and they gave Walters a 50kg head start.

Queue us delisting him and Collingwood rookie listing him and getting his head right, turning him into a star. If/when we delist him someone'll pick him up. Unless he turns into a Carl Petersen clone who just won't get it right.
