not sure really. i hate talking about trade deals because it is out of our hands. i heard today that your opening offer is pick 24. our ceo has come out and said that wouldn't be enough. i would think 24+ a player (i don't know who, steven browne would be nice)

I think the only difference would be the jumbling of the first 3-4 players and their order drafted and won't alter the effect of who's available at picks 5+6.

Having said that though i don't know much about the boys coming through and am just merely using common sense in my thought processing.

Completely depends on how far Watts slides I guess.

West Coast would take Rich without flinching... Freo and Port are harder to guess.

Freo would be reluctant to take a VM boy after seeing Warnock walk, so that would make them cautious on Watts, Vickery and Hurley... Hartlett could move up to third?

Not sure what Port would do, especially with Hartlett gone. Alot of port Fans are keen as hell on Vickery, I wonder if their recruitment department is too?

Thats my scenario for Watts sliding to 5... but I am not sure he'd make it past Port.

That's true, but in that case Freo get nothing. Do you think they'll give up a 24 pick? Doubt it. Because he nominated Carlton, the Dees are unable to enter trade negotiations with Freo, and can't offer any draft picks for him. You only chance is if he falls to the PSD, in which case you'll get him for free, but then we keep out 24 pick. We can't lose. Only Freo can. BTW that powerpoint presentation seems to have failed. lol. And you might need another fundraiser to pay for the AFL fine for approaching Warnock before the end of the season.

Oh you mean the PSD which you won't be able to participate in because you need to reduce your salary cap to 92.5%... We've got $600,000 plus space and you have minus $600,000 space.

So you would give up Browne who has had a very promising first year and looks to have the makings of a good player

but you wouldnt trade a 2nd round pick which has no guarantees of being anywhere near as good as browne?

If I had to guess on what we'll end up offering, I'd guess pick 24 plus Clinton Benjamin.

Benjamin is probably on the bubble as far as delisting goes and Fremantle where keen on him back when he was drafted. His footy is better suited to bigger grounds and he'll probably develop into a better player in the WAFL as opposed to the VFL.

I agree. 24 and Browne is too much given we think he was one of the steals of last years draft and unlucky not to go in Top 20. Performed very well for a first year player.

24 + something but not Browne...what other WA boys do we have....Benjamn (delisted), Armfield (questionable value), Bower (way too valuable and a 200 gamer for us)

To me the Wood trade isn't really a benchmark. Pick 14 flatters Wood, he was very much overpaid as the Pies seemed desperate for a young ruckman. While I think Warnocks prospects are greater than Woods, the quality of the draft and importance of this one bring Warnocks value down a little.

Forget what the majority of the dockers fans think, pick 24 should be enough, anything more and we will be giving up to much for the situation we are in.

The other thing is that Wood was still under contract, so Brisbane had a bit more leverage than Freo.

Spoken with someone VERY close to Fremantle and will probably be in the trading room on the day this goes through

Fremantle are desperately seeking QUANTITY rather then quality. They have a massive hole in the list of 10 players and with Warnock they wish to secure up to 3 prizes (ie. 3 draft picks or 2 draft picks and a player).

The saying that throwing 2 pieces of trash to find a treasure could be true here. Its expected you will just offer your 2nd + 4th rounder but Freo will push strongly for you to trade for another pick and give that to them.

Something along the lines of pick 24 56 and 60 is wh at Freo want.
