Just guessing, but probably a comment about WC fan behaviour.
Well i was at the game.

I didnt see the hit off the ball.

If i would have id have felt disgusted.

As it was i didnt - neither did the fans around me - including a docker and a collingwood supporter who i interacted with through the match.

I cheered gaff off as i thought (much like when the carr brothers used to target cousins etc) that gaff had been copping it all game.

At 3/4 time the collingwood supporter went for a beer with some mates and came back and said apparently gaff will do weeks

Myself and the dockers fan went what for?

He said dunno.

Watched the rest of the game and found out about an hour afterwards what hed done - watched the video and was sickened by it.

Next morning - it was my waking thought - quite saddened that it was one of our players that had done that - looked at more footage and thought to myself he deserves around 6-8 weeks for that.

Theres one fans behaviour for you.

Im sure experiences will vary from some eagles fans who think he should be banned for life on one end of the scale - to some who think he should be given a medal and a pay rise “fer bringin back the farken biff mayte” at the other.

I guess its what you would call a spectrum.

I can see with the goodes thing you are trying to paint it into a less nuanced light.

Whatever floats your boat. You guys are angry that one of your up and coming star kids has been belted. I can understand your anger. I felt incenced when gaff was belted last year.

Trust Matt Thompson, Jon Ralph, Tony Jones and the rest of the ambulance chaser union to be up in arms over the fact they didn't get to grill Gaff at the gate.

Would of been frothing for it for 48 hours.

Just take one persons word over another’s without knowing anything and repeat it as fact.
Do you think Pav would have made that comment without checking the facts first with Brayshaw? He probably told his team mates it's bullshit and word eventually got to Pav. Nisbet has no credibility considering he's already backed away from his previous statement on thug hits and complained about inflammatory comments while making inflammatory comments.

Geez Nisbett is a hypocrite.
Mouthing off at Lyon for making comments on the incident when he himself tries to shift the narrative through blatant lies.

What an embarrassment this guy is.

If Gaff has any sense of remorse, he doesn’t present a defence and accepts the penalty given to him.

Sounds like the Eagles are strongly pushing the intent angle though and will fight any severe penalty.

I don't follow this argument at all.

It was quite clearly a heat of the moment brain fade, he was obviously not thinking, this would only serve as a further penalty, not a deterrent.

For it to act as a deterrent you'd have to assume that Gaff had the intention to go out there and whack someone because there was no send off rule.

Another thing to consider, other sports have send off rules yet it hasn't stopped those kind of incidents from happening (by those kind I mean the type that get you sent off) - otherwise people wouldn't keep getting sent off right?

Agree it has arguable value at lesser levels.

But it is certainly arguable that in Super Rugby and NRL levels it seems to be have a long term positive effect (particularity given to the levels of violence that once existed).

Feel genuinely sorry for Gaff, the media hype and campaigners who have come out of the woodwork is a disgrace. He hit someone one the footy field (by accident I believe), he didn't murder his wife. Talk about a lynch mob mentality. Some people need to chill out and let the poor bloke cop his fair whack and move on FFS.

Its not the clubs job to prosecute him.

Why is that hard to understand.

Nisbett should just stfu i wish he would just fxx right off - hes of that eddie mcguire/ jeff kennett school of sticking your foot in your mouth and think you are helping ego idiocy.

Its the afls job to prosecute, the afl judiciary to adjudicate and the eagles job to look after their player.
