Was Jed Adcock played out of position? I'd say yes , would have made a great half forward flanker. Who else are we mucking about with? Hanley is one that comes to mind.

Sure he kicked a few bags this year but Adcock definitely wasn't played out of position during his Brisbane career. Appeared a gun midfield prospect initially but found his niche in defence (replacing an injured Chris Johnson if I'm not mistaken?). Fans forgot how solid he was in the back six, was such an important piece throughout some dark times.

Don't get me wrong, Jed was a fine defender, but I think he would have been even better alongside J Brown. If only for his ability to kick so well. And yes they were "dark" times, and as such I would have rather seen him kicking goals, after all we lost anyway, for many years. Imagine the thrills he would have given us.

Karnezis was a waste of talent IMO. Once Voss got wind that he was looking to leave he didn't play him which was understandable. Karnezis was just never made for AFL footy being mentally soft and not willing to work hard enough which was also a problem at Collingwood. Could have been a great wing/HFF IMO he just had something about him.

This was a lad with with so much ability, Daicos like. But you needed the team around him and the coach who believed in a stability, not quick results ala Fev, and a club who looked after our players, all minus at the times. Who knows if his growth path was different.

Leuenberger comes to mind , also Aish and many others , why can't our selectors get it right. And not forget we sit on the bottom for a decade. Have we changed our ways?

I think if Karnezis had bought in, worked his a** off and didn't run off to his mothers I have no doubt he would be in our best 22. As soon as his intentions were made public his cards were marked. I can't blame Voss and co. for not playing him especially when he is just going to leave at the end of the season I would have done the same.

Adcock was played exactly were he should've been for most of his career. Back flank and a bit of midfield. He ended up forward last season purely because others had gone past him in his preferred position. As for Hanley... he's turned into our most damaging midfielder.

Wouldn't say Hanley is our most damaging midfielder just yet. He has shown glimpses yes but so has Rich who I think i probably our most damaging player when he plays well. Hanley needs to get the pill a bit more and it would be great if he can get those extra touches forwrd of centre but I like what he has to offer. Still learning the game and so I'm hoping this season is his break out year especially with a full strength squad he can work off. Here's hoping to AA selection for Hanley. :thumbsu:

The answer, as always, is Jared Brennan.

I think Hanley's gone past Rich in that regard. Both are susceptible to the tag, but Hanley is a better runner and is more versatile.

He didn't exactly set the world on fire at Collingwood either. He wasn't as talented as he seemed to think he was, and just couldn't do the kind of basic things you need to do to succeed at AFL level when you're not insanely talented.

Potentially wasted thread.

I think Rich has a higher 'peak' than Hanley but Hanley works harder so I agree.

I disagree somewhat with Karnezis. I actually thought he was fairly talented but lacked the drive to succeed... as that facebook post was floating around shows it seemed as though he had a tendency to blame everyone but himself. Mentally weak IMO.

the players that have been through the lions system in the last 5 to 10 years who i thought to had the ability and showed some great glimpses but never fulfilled it for a variety of reasons.
jason roe- thought he was going to be one hell of a player running off half back.
todd banfield- speed to burn, just couldn't pick the ball up. a poor mans josh green.
justin sherman- showed great intensity and endeavor. was a good player but maybe just didn't quite have the ability to go to next level.
aaron cornelius- he could clunk a mark, would have been a good 3rd tall type. never happened
josh drummond- on song an elite kick in the competition. mainly injuries with josh, could never get an extended run at it.
sam sheldon- really liked this kid, can't even remember what happened to him.
jared brennan- still remember his debut, thought he was going to be a draft steal even at pick 3. had cyril rioli type talent but lacked that desire/hunger to be as good as he could have been.

What facebook post was that?
