According to various news sources, the results of Beau Waters' shoulder scan is not good news. Set to announce his retirement tomorrow.

Gutted, the guy bled blue and gold. Tough as nails, and that could even have been a partial reason for his issues. He'll be missed. Cheers Beau.

Didnt have too much confidence he would play this year.

Sad news none-the-less.

Heart & soul player for the team. Hope he stays with WC in some capacity

Shattering that his career his been so heavily curtailed by injury. This will be four seasons without playing a game, and another four with 11 or less.

Him and Butler were part of the same draft and they have only been able to take the field together 42 times over the years. If that number isn't correct, it's not too far from being wrong.

I don't normally do this but I can happily say I was desperately hoping the club would grab Waters in the 2003 draft, even if he didn't spend much (any?) time in the midfield.

I can be a bit of romantic when it comes to sport sometimes and I hope the club thinks about giving both Waters and Butler honorary life memberships as both were integral part of our flag, and both would have easily got to the 150 mark if not for an insane run of injuries. I would say Beau is going to have long term damage to his body as well. I'm not so sure on the prospective long term damage Butler is done but I don't think it's going to be as bad as what Waters is looking at. He may also get to the 150 if he has an injury free run this year and next year.

Simpson is on 3AW right now, pretty much all but confirmed it.

Didn't say he would, but more because he didn't want to take it away from Beau.

Shit.

One of my favourite Eagles of all time. Hard as nails, took some great marks, made others around him walk taller.
Hi guys,
Genuinely sorry to hear this. He was a very gutsy player and one of my favourites.
I hope the prognosis for him is not as bad as hinted at above.

I like that idea - didnt even click that he isnt a life member after 12 odd seasons on the list....

Gutted by this news. Hoped he would be able to play this year but it doesn't look like it right now.

Thanks for the memories Beauy. You are an absolute champ and terrific club man both on and off the field and if it is so that you retire I wish him every bit of luck for his future endavours. A footy career is only a short part of life, got to think about life after footy.

I concur with the previous posts to. Beau and Sam Butler need honorary life memberships if they don't make it to 150 games
