I have to agree with you and if Watts was doing this at Carlton I would get rid of him in a second. But frankly Carlton lacks good KPPs and if picked him up he might have a questionable attitude but at least he isn't on drugs and stealing from fellow teammates like previous players we got from Adelaide.

here's the bottom line, and why you guys could well end up with the prize again.

We think Fungus might be the goods, now we have no intention of sending him to a premiership rival for a pittance. Whereas, even you would admit, Carlton are in a phase right now where they are not challenging so even if he becomes a fine player it will hurt us much less.

Any player who hasn't had a fair run is only potential... not he aint worht a top 10 or pick number 6.... Pick 17 and a player would be fair... depending on the player.... but adleaide arn't in the position to go an bargain (neither are the saints) I think adelaide should settle for something at least and teh saints should be fair and give them a decent deal....
So you're saying that players shouldn't be picked on potential? Isn't that the whole idea of the draft, the whole thing being a gamble on who you think will develop into the best footballer.

just got back from the pub with my mate whos come back from melbourne whos on st. kildas list.. dylan pfitzner and hes out of contract and an SA boy :p

hes nothin spectacular but maybe he could be a part of the deal, hes bout 196cm and unbelievably dedicated :)

i know i know, im biasd cos hes my mate but i dont think his name has been discussed at all

well done that is the point of the draft correct.... but when you trading a ready made player (what adelaide reportadly want) for someone with only potential(that would be Watts) to their name thats a bigger risk and can be calculated to being unfair....

like a crap player = higher pick 40+
A really good players/superstar= a top 10 pick included in trade

that kind of logic.... got to wiegh it up... which can be hard

I would be very dissapointed if Pfitzner left the Saints. He has been hampered by injuries for two years and has yet to play a seniors game.

Is very skilled, a good mark and a very good kick. Needs some meat on his bones as he gets pushed off the ball very easily.

He has been a pet project of Terry Daniher and was my pick to make the Saints seniors in 2006 on the proviso he put on 5-7 kilos (a big pre-season) and Gehrig was not there.

If he was part of the trade with Watts I would be unhappy, but I can tell you Crow supporters that if that occurs dont despair. Pfitzner will be an AFL seniors player and is a KPP.

JM, Port's decision to hold firm had absolutely nothing to do with an attempt to prevent players from wanting to go home out of hand in future - it had everything to do with saying that Port would not be held to ransom and be dictated to by players wishing to leave.

Josh Carr signalled his intention to leave for home - regrettable but a reality - and then left it up to his agent and the relevant clubs to strike the best concerned for all parties, which was fair enough.

2) Massive difference.

Unlike with Nick Stevens who had Port over a barrel from the very beginning, Josh Carr had absolutely nothing to gain by going into the PSD - what, end up even further away from Perth?

When Port's interest in Schammer was rebuffed, they took the next best thing on offer was Freo's first three picks.

It wasn't just in Port's best interest to accept that deal, but Josh Carr's as well. Given that the only party unaffected if a deal couldn't be brokered was Freo, I don't know how you can say that Port 'capitulated' in the end.
love the avator

James23 and Joffaboy, I've brought up Dylan's name a few times http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=167887&page=8&pp=15&highlight=dylan+pfitzner

I think there was also a a thread to monitor his progress on the Saints board. I've thought he could be an option for us for a while.

yeh hes apparently surpost to be really good but he needs to prove himself and still hasnt shown that. he hasnt got many best on grounds in the reserves.
he needs to get a senior game to see what he can do.

Well send him our way, I'm sure being back at Centrals will help get the best out of him :)

i asked dylan last night about tradin sam fischer and he laughed in my face tho :( said he came fifth in their best and fairest and theres no chance of getting him for watts :(

FACT: Max Stevens came out and said that Nick would only entertain a move to Collingwood or he'd walk to the PSD - just as he has with his client Fergus and the Saints.

HERESAY: After Nick Stevens refused both deals Port had agreed with Carlton and Melbourne, Port sent Nick to the PSD after they deemed Collingwood's offer to be worth far less than Stevens was worth.

FACT: Nick Stevens then came out and said that he 'never designated a chosen destination (despite what Max stated previously)' and that he was happy to go anywhere as long as it was in Melbourne.

Macca19 posted an article a few pages ago where Nick is directly quoted and actually contradicts himself in this respect.

Given this clear contradiction and now Max's current behaviour with Fergus, this is why I believe Port over the two Stevenses.

It seems to me you're swinging entirely the other way. The difference is?

What Max Stevens says isn't necessarily what Nick Stevens said. Max Stevens is a ruthless player manager looking for the best deal for his client. Nick Stevens may have been entirely more nonplussed.

So by that logic why are you so viciously judgemental of Fergus?

Maxxy could just be 'looking for the best deal' for him too, no?

You are correct on Fisher. He isn't up for trade. Picked up at No 53 in the 2003 draft. Thought he was going to be a top up player for us, however this year really took a big step up, a bit like a lot of your unknowns.

Played the whole second half against you blokes with a broken foot. Courageous and pivitol to the Saints defence in 2006.

As i said if Pfitzner was part of the deal to Adelaide, i would be sorry to see him go as he has huge potential, and you guys shouldn't fear you have been bent ove in the trade.

The guy can play, and will be a seniors KPP with an AFl team.

When I found out Max Stevens was his manager I cooled off a bit.

But I am still judgmental of the 'leaving after minimum contract' bit AND having the gall to nominate a club.

Well there's a little boy waiting on the bench of the suburban ground
He's been waiting down there, waiting for 2 years, we never ever see him play at the top
He gets pushed around, knocked to ground
But he gets to his feet and he says..
What about me,
It isn't fair
I've had enough, now I want my mum
Can't you see, I wanna play
But you just make me wait for today...

Now i'm standing at the ground , all the worlds gone home,
Nothings changed, Nobody's been saved,
And i'm feeling cold I'm going home
Isnt it sucky , I'm going home
But sometimes I wish for more than I've got
Watts its about me,
It isn't fair
I've had enough, now I want my share,
Can't you see, I wanna play
But you just pick more
Watts its about me, It isn't fair
I've had enough, now I want my mum
Can't you see, I wanna play
But you just dont pick me anymore
You just dont pick me anymore
You just dont pick me anymore
Watts its about me...
Watts its about me...
Watts its about me...
