I noticed in the Age sport on Saturday that Wayne Carey has left. Anyone know why?

surely we shouldve kept him- we were the highest scoring team this year why would we sack him??? I'm really shocked by it but im thinking it may have something to him being unable to commit full time because of media commitments. Disappointing to lose him this way but i guess he isnt ready for full time coaching role. Who will be forwardline coach now?????footy_rulz said:I noticed in the Age sport on Saturday that Wayne Carey has left. Anyone know why?

Bay Pie said:mentioned in 'the age', I think. Blake Caracella big chance. He seemed to have a very good footy brain.

■ Collingwood's Blake Caracella will join the Magpies' coaching panel. Caracella, who was forced into retirement with a fractured vertebra, is likely to fill Wayne Carey's position as forward coach.
As a player who suffered a career-ending injury, AFL rules entitle Caracella to be paid half his 2006 base contract next year — meaning he would receive close to $100,000 regardless of whether he coached.
