WH on SEN:

* Kreuzer still nervous before name read out
* Cotchin will be a very good player for Richmond
* Would have had a couple a bit different in the top 10 (order mainly)
* Draft opened up after the first dozen
* Not too concerned about the Rendell situation

* Natainui and Rich the two most outstanding players for next years draft. Naitanui most exciting junior he has ever seen (been doing it since 1989). Says he is an amazing talent

* Kreuzer - maybe won't grow beyoung 199.5, will develop as an athletic ruckman pushing around the ground. Will play similar game to Otten and Cox.

* Kreuzer vs Leuenberger - Leuey more a technician as a ruckman. Kreuzer more bang and crash and second efforts.

* Kreuzer good overhead, strong bodied....doesn't come off the ground for a rest but goes forward and kicks goals he has such a strong engine.

* Thinks we should improve quickly now with the three #1 draft picks and Judd coming to Carlton.

* Encourages Carlton supporters to buy memberships as these boys are worth coming to watch.

* Hampson is quickest bloke at the club from Spring testing . Shaun and Matt will be our pair of future ruckman 5-6 years down the track. Said we needed to develop our own.

* Aisake taking a bit of time with his injuries.

* Michael Shields will be offered a spot on the rookie list (and he has accepted).

* Browne - HBF and plays midfield for West PErth. Thought he was unlucky to miss U18 AA selection. Will play midfield for us

* Armfield - Runner up in B&F for Swan Districts. Quickest over 20m in WA state screening.... his tackles stick. Hopes he will play on the Davey's and Ablett's, etc..

* PSD - meeting in a half hour to discuss.

And its not as if we've got a bunch of slow pokes on our list either. I can't believe he outran Benjamin

Funny that he got Armfields history a bit wrong, it was Union not League that he used to play.

we haven't had a good small forward stopper for years. great effort by our recruiting team!!!:thumbsu::thumbsu:

I thought Carrazzo was pretty good when he was playing BP before he was moved into the midfield. However, since we have recruited heavily for our midfiled depth, he may very well find himself back there in 2008.

I highly doubt that.

If West Coast could have Judd, Cousins, Kerr, Braun, Flecther, Priddis, Rosa, Selwood, Stengline, Waters, Jones running through their midfield I think we could still fit Carrazzo into ours.

I highly doubt that.

Judd and Stevens back into the midfield straight away, and they'll look to give Gibbs more time in there as well. With Murphy already in there, Carrazzo won't have as much game time in there like he did this year.

So you're going to take our best adn fairest winner out of the position in which he was so impressive and dominant?

Just because Judd and Stevens are back - that is two players - does not mean we have immense depth. Players like Carrazzo will still be needed and still be used in the midfield IMO.

Not to take anything away from Carrots' 2007, but surely you're not suggesting that he is a better mid than Judd and Stevo?

I agree with HBF that Carrots was an awesome back pocket (and not a bad tagger either).

If we have sufficient talent in our midfield and are sorely missing an experienced quiality back pocket, I don't see how Carrots' winning the 2007 B&F in the midfield is reason not to play him where he is most needed for team structure in 2008.

It looks like we now have a bunch of BP and FP players who can rotate through the midfield to rest the mids who start the game.

An interesting move will be Hoops back into the forward line where he plays best rotating down to the wing

We still need at least 1 more experienced defender to really crack it big time. Then I think that the team will basically be complete.

Carrots in the back pocket - nah-uh, he's a midfielder through and through. He was ok in the back pocket initially but far from outstanding, then in 2006 he was repeatedly beaten there. He never liked playing playing there either (I know this from his brother).

Halfway through '06 he was slaughtered by Shannon Grant who kicked a bag of goals on him in a quarter at the tdome. From then on, they ditched the idea and threw him on the HFF and then eventually into the midfield through
'2007 where he excelled. He remains a key in the midfield for us.

Back pocket still remains a concern - I've been worried about who we're gonna put on those Davey types so was rapt to read this:

Maybe in the short term Benjamin or Anderson could step up into that role also but unless Ratten has other ideas, I doubt we'll see Carrots back there.

God, your ambitious, if we keep making tactical blunders we won't even get that.

Tell us Mr Recruiting Guru, which tactical blunders would htose be?? Drafting two quick, hard at it footballers who put their heads over the ball???

DISGRACEFUL, call for an inquiry

I used to think your jibes were sort of humorous, now they are very tiresome and I suggest you go and bury your head in the sand.

Agreed.. our defence, although i will be better than last year, will still be the area we are slightly lacking in... When Jamison and Bower develop, and Setanta gets a handle on FB itll be alright, next year tho we'll still struggle a bit down back..

The good thing now tho is our midfield has more depth, this can perhaps fill some of the gaps in the backline until the kids start blossoming.. eg hadley off HB, carrots if needed in a BP etc..

Carrazzo would still be in our best 3 at winning the ball at the stoppages.
In the 2nd half of the season he was often on target for 40+ touches before a very hard tag was put on him.
It keeps getting mentioned how Murph will be freed up from taggers but this should apply to Carrots even more so as he was our most heavily tagged player in the 2nd half of the year.
I expect him to start the season as part of our centre square set up.
This guy is a genuine ball magnet and with no tag he could end up in the top 10 possesion winners for the comp

I didnt think he liked being isolated in the BP, and his best footy when not on ball was across HF.

So many midfield options now after being so weak in this area, what a great problem to have.

I'm not saying that he will spend all season in the BP, but if we have matchup issue (Davey, Farmer, etc, etc), then we could send Carrazzo back there.

I suppose that Hadley could play that role as well, and from what I have heard of Armfield, he could play that role as well. At least we have some options moving forward.

Well... ****...

If I wasnt ambitious, I wouldnt be a Carlton supporter and maybe I would have accepted one of my grandparents teams (the filth and essenscum... well... ok essenscum are also ambitious but they are crap) or maybe even my uncles team (the Aints) to support.

I am quite certain that now that we dont have denis the menace ruining the show (and the players), our tactical blunders are going to slowly disappear.

All I was saying was, we need 1 more experienced defender to bolster the defence and our defence will be solid. The pocket players will be rotated through the midfield to rest our starting mids in areas where they will also assist.
