Went and saw him last night and he was ****ing phenominal.
He's 76 years old FFS! He limped out onto the stage, acted like a grumpy old man for the whole set, didn't say a word to the audience, and took about 5 minutes to warm up, but once he did, Jesus H Christ, what a musician!
Even amongst a quality band of players (Brian Blades in particular being a magnificent drummer to see live) he was still able to stand out with the depth, feel, and expression of his playing.
I am so glad I bit the bullet and went out and saw him. I punked out on Joe Zawinul's last tour here before he died, so there was no chance I was going to miss the last chance to see one of THE jazz legends before his time is up
Anyone who didn't go totally missed out.
