You know I hav been reading these forums for a long time now but never posted. I'm sick of hearing all the doomsdayers bagging out Eddie and Nathan.

We are Collingwood supporters. Through the hard times and the bad times we support the club we love no matter what you got to have faith on what the club is doing.

You support the club NO matter what throgh thick and thin. Any haters are not true supporters.

I think people are forgetting this:
SIDE BY SIDE WE STICK TOGETHER
If you can't stick with us through the tough times, then you sure as hell don't deserve to join us through the good times.

God, I love this club!

Totally with you mate.

Seems to me that supporters of other clubs just don't get us, don't get what it means to be truly involved in your club. We're more than just supporters of a footy club. It's like being in a family. We share some sort of bond that is truly exemplified by 'Us Against Them'. The best that opposition supporters can throw at us is come sort of confused, envious hatred. We feed on that crap. We're consistently amongst the top clubs for member numbers, even when we're not travelling that well. We show up in huge numbers at every ground in the country. We love our club with a passion, because we're all in it together.

Side by side. I'll be a 'Pie till I die.

Welcome JamieB :thumbsu:

I guess it can be a fine line that we tread between supporting our team, and having a robust debate over their failings.

For example, our coaches support our players, but that doesn't stop the coaches dishing out tough words when they're warranted. It's tough love. The club is ultimately accountable to us, the members and supporters. There are times that we dish them out some tough love, but it's love nonetheless.

At one extreme there is the "Our club is <insert favourite expletive here> I'm going to tear up my membership"- that's (IMHO) poor form heading in the direction that the OP was addressing. That's not supporting the club at all.

At the other extreme there is "Oh well, there there, it's only a game, at least you tried". Unless you're a Grandmother of one of the players, then that's not really hitting the target either.

I agree OP and one reason why in 7.5 years I only have 600 odd posts. We overreact as supporters and it is embarrassing.

Not trying to derail your thread, but I am going to say it anyway. Let's look at some facts.

- Hawks are an awesome unit that play cohesively on every line. Cloke did smash their defence though.
- Losing Leon has been a massive loss. Our movement from defence has been stifled. We always looked for Leon to spot up a target.
- Pendles has not been the same since his fracture
- Thomas has been second rate all year
- Swan seems pre occupied although still finding the pill
- Luke Ball's absence has become more apparent as the year has progressed
- Losing 2 assistant coaches has caused some ripples
- 4 Acl's and shoulder reconstructions to key players eliminates the ability to have a settled side.
- So many injuries. Our defence was decimated for quite some time (see above)
- Pressure on Dawes to play LB role has unsettled him which has had a flow on effect to Travis.
- T. Cloke negotiations surely having an impact which is all media driven.

I am sure there are many other factors we could add to this list, but everything mentioned above would have played a role in last nights defeat. Other people taking pot shots at Buckley in other threads need to put things into some perspective. He has managed to get us into the top 4 with all these challenges.

Let's not take away anything from the Hawks last night. We were beaten by an in form and battle hardened unit. Let's stay positive, we may get another Krack at them...

Well-timed post Jamie B. Needed to be said. We're all there riding the good times, side by side is about sticking fat during the tough times & coming out the other end. BELIEF.

Man that album sucked so much arse

Master of Puppets sucked so much arse? I can say without any shadow of a doubt that that is the first time in 26 years that I've ever heard anyone say anything like that about Master of Puppets.

Don't tell me you liked the Load albums

Those lyrics are from the song st anger the debut single of the album st anger which sucked a lot of ass.

**** it all and ****en no regrets,
I hit the lights on these dark set, medallion noose I'll hang myself
St anger round my neck

Pretty cool music video filmed in San Quentin though

Haha, totally agreed (I still like it more than Load and Reload though). I'm a huge Metallica fan. The message is still relevant though.
Load, ReLoad and Garage Inc were all masterpieces compared with St.Anger. The fact that songs from Load, ReLoad and Garage Inc still get played live and St.Anger doesn't get mentioned let alone played suggests the band agrees with the fans.

The quote suits, but yeah totally shit album

Load, Reload and St. Anger were all shit. There's no point comparing them. I just dislike Load and Reload more than I dislike St. Anger. Sorry, this is getting off topic, but it really astounds me how they made 4 or 5 classic albums in a row and released those turds afterwards. Death Magnetic was great though.

Anyway...

Let's be honest people, we aren't good enough this year. Taking injuries, form, coaches into account, it's been a bloody good effort to still be in contention.

Sydney winning hopefully gives them a lift, a prelim in Sydney at ANZ stadium is right up our ally.

At this point in time, Geelong is out and I believe they are the only side that beat the hawks. We can't.

We should be throwing the kitchen sink at Goddard. We need someone who can use the ball well, whether it be down back, through the middle or hitting forwards.
