Things are not at all harmonious in Swansland. We've played gloomy football for weeks, and played almost no football at all on Saturday night. With injuries and likely suspensions, and no cohesion and apparently no hunger, on-field fortunes don't look like changing very soon and how many of our remaining games can we confidently call now?
At West Coast; v Crows; at Geelong; v C'wood; at Giants; at St Kilda, v Suns.

On recent weeks, we'd badly fail the eye test, and I have no confidence at all that we can win any of our next five matches. That leaves an improving St Kilda and a Suns team that will be a whole lot better in round 23 than the first 12 weeks of the season.

From travelling well enough and looking for that "breakout" game about 3-4 weeks ago, we were a shameful rabble against Hawthorn and there was almost nothing to suggest this season holds anything more than bleak disappointment and frustration.

I genuinely believe we will struggle to hold a place in the top eight, let alone top four, and I'm not sure it will matter even if we do fall in. We've got serious problems ...

We've lost to Freo (1st), Hawks (3rd), Tigers (5th), Bulldogs (6th)
We've beaten Giants (7th) Hawks and play Adelaide (8th in Round 18)

We have beaten all teams outside of the 8 that we have played (yet to play - Collingwood 9th, St Kilda 13th).

Based on that we aren't a top 4 side but more likely 5-8 as the ladder stands now.

Deserve to play finals we are good enough.

Past few weeks I've seen a talent packed side struggle with direction and game plan, whilst absolutely butchering the footy the majority of the time. This side hasn't always butchered the footy as badly, so we know they have the ability to improve their disposal.

We know that the game plan hasn't been working as we haven't scored high enough, even in the games we've won. We now have the opportunity to take the next two months to improve that scoring rate.

The benefit of getting hammered by the Hawks is that it confirms that our current structure and game plan will not win the flag, which means we must try something new.

Two months is a long time in footy..

I'd take what we've done recently - consistently making finals in 12 of 13 years - over being awesome for 4 or 5 and then sucking balls for 10.

Will beat saints and GC and I think crows at SCG for certain IMO. Gives 14 wins roughly 4th or 5th spot. May need another 1 or 2 to secure top 4, gonna be tough but this club has proved for many years that it can bounce back.
