We wouldn't get higher than a late 2nd round or 3rd round for Mcphee.

Maybe so, but lets at least put him on the table. What is the worst result of saying to clubs 'we'll put McPhee on the table, what pick would you give us". If it comes back as you think as a late 2nd/3rd, then we just keep him. He is under contract anyway I think. No harm in putting a few players on the table though- same with NLM and Lovett

...you picked up Westhoff and he should be your CHF post Tredrea anyway, or am I wrong there?

Hhmmm, maybe - although I can't really see Westhoff developing the necessary bulk to hold down a genuine KP role, but more the hit up leading third tall.

I can understand your annoyance at the timing of the priority pick rule changes....

I can see Westhoff developing the bulk, he is still akid remember. To have someone who is just 20, kicking 20+ goals is fantastic for your club. He is a dead set gun who will only get better. I do see him more like a Reiwolt "type" of CHF, meaning he will roam around a fair bit.

As for the priority pick..don't get me started. The AFL bends over backwards for Caltank..and the year we get a PP..they change the rules!:thumbsd:

True. I'd take a 2nd round pick for him!

I wouldn't want to put NLM on the table, he's one of very few players on our list with a bit of grunt and although he hasn't had the greatest start to a season I thought he was fantastic last year and hope he'll turn it around.

Yes, but to be honest I just don't see NLM as a "must have" player. I like him too BUT we have plenty of players that could play his role. As for McPhee I am only tossing him up, and I'd like us to at least put him on the table.

Yeah, I know it would be replacing one turnover king with another, this was my entire point. One hack for another... I thought that was fairly simple to understand. Fletcher would still get a game. He'd get one over Slattery and Dyson just to name 2. An All-Australian premiership player would get a game at Essendon based on him being the player he was... much like Mcphee! Zing! Also for the fact he steps up for big games- see the '06 Grand Final. I wouldn't want him, I wouldn't want Rosa... I'd consider Priddis and Kerr though.

Just like JJ hey. ;)

Zing, wrong again... next.

Daniel Rich has all the attributes to be a class midfielder. No picks are guaranteed success though, all picks are SPECULATIVE to a degree, how speculative they are depends on how you look at it. Take Houli for example, was thought of as a risky choice, proving most observers wrong.

However I'll say this we do need class midfielders as that is what wins flags, yes our CHB needs addressing long term (especially if Ryder will be a ruckman), but our midfield is shocking. Look frank assessments of the team are needed and that is what I see. If players like Brent Stanton and Jobe Watson are the best two midfielders you know there is a serious problem. Not bagging those two players one bit, but they just should not be the no1/2 mids.

If there is any draft to pick 1-2 quality mids, the 2008 draft is the one, starting at pick 2- Daniel Rich (Subiaco):thumbsu:

Close................. but no cigar

We got a gun in Zaharakis, complete gem of a player. Quick, strong, lovely kick... good leadership, very similar to Bachar Houli. There you go, we don't need Rich.
