Play Richo at CHB.

Raines Polak Newman
Tambling Richo Joel Bowden

As funny as it sounds he would probably go alright down there.

Problem was he had no support. He needs another 2 talls to take the pressure off him a bit.

Kent and Schulz. Then Pettifer gets a dud defender :thumbsu:

Sadly we've had this problem for too long. I love the big fella to death but I feel he holds development of our forward line up a little by being there now.

How quickly opinions turn...

After the Essendon game round 21 last year you were all singing his praises and hoping he would play for another 5 years.

instead of blaming richo maybe someone else needs to stand up, pick up the slack and take the heat off him?

I cant recall another tall apart from ottens in 1 season that has been a reliable foil throughout his career.

and i agree with phoenix he was hardly predictable before he went off.

Richo's not the problem, its finding a legitimate 2nd tall and dare i say it 3rd tall option

exactly. when richo was leading up the ground (which it seemed to me he did the entire time he was on the ground) there was no one to kick it to, no structure up forward for us to go to. we really need one or two of shulz, polak, kingsley, jr or hughes to step up this year and be that 2nd and 3rd tall option. even if it is just to give the players a tall target up there so that they can play directly.

My first instinct was that it was simply a lack of football knowledge but the problem seems to be more borne out of habit. For those who didnt notice allow me to spell it out..........
We got flooged in the midfield and at stoppages, primarily due to lack of ruck strength and a young group tryoing their luck in the midfield roles......that means no quick ball into our forward setup and lots quick clean ball in theirs, hence their forwards prosper, our backs struggle and the reverse is true for our end.

Who are we blaminng in these post mortem threads, Gaspar, Richo FFS!

Lets try talking about how we can cover Cogs and Simmo and are Lids, Rainesey, Patto and Bling up to midfield or ruck roles yet.

Spot on TT

The midfield is the problem, not enough pressure when they dont get first hands on the pill, our guys dont know how to defend. We arent helping our forwards and making the backmans job a nightmare.

You just have to look at how easy Geelong moved the ball from backline to their forward line time after time, no pressure what so ever.
