He is perfect for our club. While he may not fit into our youth policy, he will be dominant for 3-4years and will add valuable experience to our list to nurture our younger player's development, and be a replacement for sugar. He was better than Judd the last time he played and he has a good 3-4 years left in him because he was virually rested for 2 seasons. If the cost is minimal bring him in next year to guarrentee us a finals spot.

and he can give us a drug reputation which doubles the speed of our team!
we can bulk up our lanky guys!

idc if we get cousins or not

I'd actually think he'd be good for our club... we need an experienced midfielder to help our young kids develop and learn to become elite.

At the moment, all we have is Sugar and a shithouse panel of coaches that have not improved our skills at all.

Cousins will need constant rotations in the midfield to get him back up to the level he was used to. I dont see him stunting the growth of our young kids.

If he comes to us via the pre-season draft... l'm all for it.

exactly except tone down the negative trolling attitude...................

If cousins comes back will he be able to go just into the pre-season draft or will he need to apply for the main draft.

If he went pre-season draft then Melb, Ess, WC, Freo, Port, blues have pretty much stated they are not interested. Therefore we would be able to pick him up for virtually nothing. The big question though to be answered is he over his problem. Only once that is answered should we even consider it.

Like everything in life - a calculated risk. The payoff could be massive.

If he lapses and gets back on the gear, I think that there is probably not *that* much of a chance that he would lead the rest in the team astray. Especially since he has been so publically outed, and had scorn heaped on him from all quarters.

Royal didnt rule it out, even offered up the pros of taking him.

He may reject us as many stars do.

Can he teach younger players?? which is the benefit in getting him.

Guys like Carey cant do this because they are too self absorbed.

As much as I have given it to Wet Toast, Egirls, and West Coke Eagles supporters, and I am anti drafting guys of that age...........don't tell anyone (shhhhhhh).............but I probably wouldn't mind if we picked him up. As long as it's not at too great a cost, eg Judd at Carltank.
You wouldn't think he'd cost too much, can play, not inherently injury prone, eg Judd at Carltank.

Shhhhhhhhh...................

End of the day though........get him, don't get him..............Such Is Life !

What would he cost - $ and draft pick....???
Didn't WC delist him, so he is an unregistered player to the AFL, so is every other player that registers for the 08 draft, I doubt we will see him ( taken in the Nat Draft) till a last round pick (or Rnd 2 by C/wood) My opinion is to develop a young guy, particularly if 17 -18 team come, let some-one else have the headache.

2 words for Terry Wallace in regards to ben cousins

GET HIM, GET HIM
GET HIM, GET HIM
GET HIM, GET HIM
GET HIM, GET HIM
GET HIM, GET HIM
GET HIM, GET HIM
GET HIM, GET HIM
GET HIM, GET HIM
GET HIM, GET HIM

only if the price we pay isnt too big (draft picks and the matter)

Was against it last year and still against it this year. However, if we were to pick him up I would throw support behind him as he is wearing the Richmond jumper until such time that he either finished playing(2-4 years) or stuffed up.

Greg Miller was speaking to Kev on SEN this morning and this subject came up. Miller pretty much ruled it out but finished with this mysterious comment..."but Daniel Kerr is another matter".

Dunno if he was headline hunting or just taking the piss....but F&^K!!....I could probably warm to this idea~!

Ben Cousin - If we were to pick him up, where would the draft picks go? Wasn't he officially deregistered with WCE? Does that mean if we were to draft him, he'd be among the young kids alongside with Rich and Natunui?

Yeah and Miller has had such grand success in being able to land a big name player.

He'll get his jollies about being a "player" in the negotiation process only for him to have another club and the player laugh in our faces.

He's a COAT. :thumbsd:

Richo mentioned on the footy show tonight that he would love to play along side Ben cousins and would be a great asset to our club and would be a good mentor for our younger players to look up to.
I also thing he could be a very big key for us winning our next premiership.

I'd love to see Cousins in Richmond colours. I think people forget how good Cousins actually is. He is still an elite midfielder of the competition. If he can stay clean and dedicated, he will be a very valuable asset for the Tigers, especially come finals time, which is where I believe Richmond is headed within the next couple of years.

I'd love for Richmond to pick up Cousins. Imagine a midfield group of Deledio, Cotchin, Foley, Tambling, Tuck, Johnson, White, Jackson, Brown, Collins, McMahon and Cousins.
