In the Herald Sun today- Your Club's stance on Trade Week
Adelaide
James Fantasia-
"Ideally it would be nice to get some draft picks, but also have a bit of a principle where we do look player for player. I'm not saying we'll be big traders but we will be active."

Do we have someone lined up? Hart and Welsh are going to go somewhere?

Skipworth will go

Certainty to be traded IMO. The club believes he should be playing AFL every week, but can't fit him in, and he'll slide lower in the pecking order with the Crows next year.

Will be the best thing for Skippy as well.

Hes up to AFL standard, but has seriously slipped down the order, behind all the young kids now too.

Heard rumours (yes i bloody know, every year) that Pav is coming to the Crows.

We are making room on our list and salary cap (see; Scott Welsh), maybe it is for a big gun like Pav?

As much as we'd all like that, It will not happen now that Freo have started winning.

The guys that are being bandied about as tradebait like Skipworth and Jericho, they'd have to part of package deals surely.

Standing alone we'd be lucky to get a third rounder for either.

It would be good to get two more picks in the top 50 with the strength of the draft as it is.

Hopefully two first round picks in the firstroundwould be the utlimate and give us great flexibility like last year when it came to ther draft. or two second round picks at 32 33 or at worse two third rounders.

I hear his name, and there is some movement. Please don't do it to me. Until it happens (if) I would prefer not to hear about it, otherwise, spasmodic orgasms are quite likely.

I have heard the same noises re: Pav

however I have friends in Perth one being quite close to the dockers and has said its pure speculation and adelaide was interested in Polak not Pavlich

What would make that seriously happen?

2 first rounders (one of which we'd have to have traded up for, Meesen + Reilly?) and Nathan Van Berlo?

As much as we'd all love Pav we also know the cost would be ridiculous.

I'd love to think so, but no chance according to his first cousin with whom I had lunch a couple of weeks ago.

Pav had made his mind up that if Freo missed the finals again this year, he was coming home, contract or no contract. He felt that he was wasting his career on a lost cause, as he wanted to play finals.

But his cousin says no chance now, given that Freo have got to preliminary final stage this year. :(

But DT, surely we'd take that in each case. That would give us 2 extra picks in the 35 to 50 range. :thumbsu:

this rumour makes a bit of sense. i mean, carlton will get gibbs with their first pick, plus the rest of their picks, and its not like theyre struggling in the young talent department. after this draft their whole team is basically young players who will get better. i reckon skipworth and jericho would fit in well at a carlton, and i even think skipworth could be one of their better midfielders, he just never got the opportunity at the crows.

I'm not saying it isn't right. I see both these players as surplus to our best 22 so I'd be happy to do that trade.

.
Source???

If Jericho and Skippy went to carlton for their second rounder i would be dancing for weeks.

Those two out for picking someone up at 17 or 19, probably 19

Funny but true :D :thumbsu:

Seriously people, its all well and good to say lets get Pavlich but what do we have to give up to get him. The proposed trade that DT highlighted is quite laughable. You don't get a premier player of the competition for a bunch of 2nd tier players and a pick or 2. It just doesn't work that way.

The trade that dyertribe proposed is closer to the mark but even then Freo wouldn't be very reluctant to sign.

Players of Pavlich's caliber come along once every blue moon and if they move clubs you know damn well that you will be paying through your nose for him.

We played him ahead of all the young kids in Round 20.
Thats because he DEMANDED to be picked with some great form in the SANFL and the week before didn't he have 30 odd possesions and kicked 6 goals. Match committe simply couldn't ignore that form any more. On many other occasions youngsters were given the nod ahead of him.

Jericho, Skipworth, Perrie have virtually no trade value, except as a trade for a middle age player not getting a game at his club.

Even mentioning their names in relation to a trade for Pavlich is simply "Twilight Zone" thinking.

For the Crows to get Pavlich they'd have to do a trade like this, Johncock AND Bock for Pavlich.

and that wouldn't happen
