So what you're saying is that every team besides Essendon were making up the numbers in 2000? Every single club were murdered by them that year. As we beat Carlton, it's fair to say that we were the 2nd best side that year. It's a pity it was 2000.

That will look good in your trophy cabinet

Please dont compare us to your pathetic club. As you see by my sig i have no respect for your mob. You never seem to beat us and you've done jack **** since 1964.

And thats a shame because melbourne used to be such a powerful club....and i mean "used" to be

I have every right to compare your 2002 season to ours. 2002 being the key word there. I'm not comparing 1985 or 1993 jackass, but 2002 when we both lost out in the semi-finals. Is this too hard for you to understand?

Wait. That can't be right. You're comparing the all-mighty Essendon to the lowly Melbourne.

Contradictions. Gotta love them.

Yes, we will. Does anyone care to check what stats Rocca got against Port? He had minimal impact and we still thrashed them.

In fact, Rocca's impact could be viewed as the gamebreaker. It is true his stats were not huge but up until he was reported he had six kicks and had kicked Collingwood's first goal. He was also the main reason that Port used Chad Cornes in defence in the first quarter. Without Rocca's early affect on the game it is quite possible Port could have been leading at half-time, even 3/4 time and the result could have been a lot closer, maybe even different.

I havent been bragging about our performances this year or last, I do however reply to all those from other teams who criticise Coll and give them a reminder of exactly where they are positioned in relation to things and their short comings

It doesn't matter who is in ruck.

I stopped reading this thread at that point, Fraser is usually your number 1 ruckman who gets some help from Rocca, correct? WIthout Rocca there Fraser is going to go up against Keating and Charman for the whole day unless you bring someone like Mckee in who i don't think is going to win that many hit outs. How can you say it doesn't matter who's in the ruck, When Keatings in the ruck there's no clearence to be won, He's already done it.

can someone dig up some stats info on Collingwood's performances without Rocca, and Brisbane's without Lappin?

I can't see Lappin playing either.

It would have to be a mighty effort on Collingwood's behalf.

Why? does one player make a side? voss isnt 100% and as u sed lappin could miss. so would it also be a mighty effort on brissy's part?

i hate when sides try to play the underdog card. he did the wrong thing and got what he deserved, just like cloke last year.

...Oh hang on, the champions were going to tear the arse out of their opponents in 1960, 1964, 1966, 1970, 1977, 1979, 1980, 1981, 2002......and I am sure I missed a couple here....

Yep, here's a couple:

1917 Premiership:
Collingwood 2.6 3.8 6.14 9.20 (74)
defeated
Fitzroy 1.0 2.2 3.4 5.9 (39)

1903 Premiership:
Collingwood 2.3 3.4 3.6 4.7 (31)
defeated
Fitzroy 2.2 2.5 2.8 3.11 (29)

FWIW, I reckon Voss's fitness will have more of an impact on the result of the match than the presence/absence of Rocca ever would.

If Voss plays well Brisbane will win, and they would win even if Rocca was playing. If he's hampered by injury again like the elimination final than the Pies will win even without Rocca.

But that's just my opinion.
