I supported the Saints. My old man went for the Saints, so I followed suit. Lenny Hayes was my favourite player growing up, what a fantastic career he's had!

The two guys I lived with, Sam Schulz and Mark Whiley and the ruckman Jonathan Giles. I played under 18's with Sam and Mark, and GWS gave us the chance to live with each other.

I think just the senior experience that Richmond have, GWS have got a few senior guys in this year to add to the young talent that they have. Nathan Foley is an example of a player here who has been good for me.

Haha, I don't think so. Cotch has had a really consistent year and his form the last month has been exceptional.

Heading into the rookie draft, how many clubs had spoken to you? What were your initial thoughts about Richmond prior to being drafted and has it changed now?

There was 2 or 3 clubs that were interested. No club gave me a definitive answer on their interest in me. Blair Hartley called me the night before the draft and said "don't be surprised if we take you".

In terms of my thoughts about Richmond, I held Richmond in a high regard prior to coming to the club and those thoughts have just been solidified since I got here.

I've heard rumors Dimma can give a good spray, but luckily I haven't been on the end of one yet. I've heard Choco go off at GWS, that was pretty impressive.

I played in a country league where goals were pretty easy to come by, so yep that is true. The league was the Hume League, and in the Albury Junior Football League in Albury/Wadonga.

I think the whole playing group as a collective, and all the coaching staff have been fantastic in my development which has helped me settle in. I live with my cousin, who has already here in Victoria which has helped a lot.

Why do you think you've blossomed at Richmond and yet were overlooked at GWS? Is it because of their midfield depth, or do you feel you've improved as a player since coming to Punt Road?

With the first round draft talent they have at GWS it was tough to play consistent AFL games. And it's a tough side to break in to.

ian who is also a relative. I worked closely with him on my aerobic fitness along with my brother who was a training partner. After I left GWS and before Richmond picked me up, Pat, David and I were doing two sessions a day trying to stay fit, it was pretty tough.

Having played big parts in both the VFL and AFL and this being our first year with our own VFL club how close are the two teams? Do the VFL boys feel apart of the club?

I loved playing for the VFL team. I get along well with all the VFL boys, and Tim Clarke and Andrew McQualter were fantastic for my development and still are.

It's actually a quite boring story, I'm the youngest of 3 boys and I loved my brothers growing up and followed them everywhere. So my old man thought I was always snipping at their heels, so he called me snipper.
