If my understanding of the info released by the afl re the 2013 draw is correct, we play north 1st up on Easter Sunday. We then have just 4 full days to prepare for Carlton on the fri night of round 2, while they have the luxury of playing the thurs night before Easter so therefore have 3 extra days preparation. Talk about being screwed over early on

We already making excuses for losing matches that haven't been played yet?

If we can't beat both, regardless of breaks we will be struggling as we are BETTER then both

It will be huge.

Malthouse absconding to the old enemy.

Them destroying us twice last season.

Us picking up Russell as a free agent.

Both teams looking to make an impression on the flag.

And the fact we are playing those toffs from Lygon St!

I'm pumped for this game and it's a good six months off

We can play these games back to back, won't make any difference.

they wouldn't give us a 5 day break, thats unheard of these days, obviously we won't be playing Carlton round 2 on the friday...

158 days to prepare, we will make up the shorter break while MM is on his book tour.

It is good that it is only 5 months until our first game.

Pretty sure it's going to be on Saturday night.

Still means we get 3 days less than Carlton, but we will have a standard break (6 day breaks are standard) instead of a ridiculous 5 day one.

Stuff like this will just make our victory over them all the sweeter.

Carlton losing to Richmond, then Collingwood in Rounds 1 and 2 next season would be possibly the best opening to any season in the history of the VFL/AFL.

Can you imagine the filth? SEN's board would meltdown. Kernahan would receive death threats.

In round 2 i'm sure the players are professional and fit enough to recover to 100% in 5 days, won't be a disadvantage at all.

I think some people would consider that pr0n.

Round 2 game is the 3:15pm Sunday game, 7 day break which is good.

We play 5 of those Sunday arvo games, 7 think of those higher than Sat night games.

Sunday arvo games for us include Carlton, Essendon and Hawthorn.

Travel 5 times, twice to QLD, we play Freo in WA.

All in today's HS

Next year will be the second consecutive season the Magpies have been scheduled five interstate trips - up from four in 2011.

They will travel to Perth once, to play Fremantle at Patersons Stadium, and are believed to have only one trip to Adelaide.

The blockbuster at ANZ Stadium against Sydney is part of the schedule and the Magpies are set to travel to Queensland twice to face Gold Coast and the Brisbane Lions.

Collingwood played only one Sunday match this year, but that will increase to five in 2013.

It is understood Seven will benefit from Sunday 3.10pm Collingwood blockbusters against Carlton (Round 2), Hawthorn and Essendon.

I think that quote means we have 5 matches in total on Sunday, including at least one twilight match (Round 1).

Mind you all of this is preceded by the phrase:

...the Herald Sun believes

so take it with a grain of salt until tomorrow's release.

Great news that we get a seven day break leading into the first game versus the scum, last year both times we played them we were coming off a 6 day break and they weren't, so this year there is no reason why we won't punish them hard.

And it will be a must win game, or we could start the season 1-2, or even 0-3, and then you can just about wave goodbye to that crucial top two and home ground advantage in the finals.
