Cilantro is disgusting, like eating soap.

You might like it more if you stop buying that stupid American stuff. Try some coriander as a substitute for cilantro. It's way better - really nice.

? Coriander is cilantro.
Just different names for it.
I love ground coriander but it's made from grinding the seeds.
I'm being silly. I like all parts - the leaves and stems, the roots and the seeds.

Interestingly, there's a genetic component to finding coriander unpleasant.

The OR6A2 gene makes some people highly sensitive to the aldehydes in coriander.

Aldehydes are a group of chemicals also found in soaps and detergents, so those of us sensitive to this chemical tend to associate the taste with soap.

I'm in that group, despite being the type of person that will eat pretty much anything. I also violently threw up a coriander-based curry once and the memory has scarred my psyche forever.

And I also agree that ground coriander seed is exempt from the ickiness and is actually delightful (to my palate). Also smells fantastic.

To keep this on topic, Zac's smile when putting on the jumper made my day.

Yep, it's in our DNA.
Ground coriander is from the seeds though, not the root.
I don't know what the root is used for and have never seen it available.
Dill has the same effect on my palate, I have tried to wean myself on to it but find it horrible.
Wondering if you like dill?
So happy to have Zac on our list. I hope he comes on faster than expected.
At least we we're likely to see him playing in the VFL side.

Coriander root is an important ingredient in some Thai curries and other dishes.
The only way to get it is to grow plants.
The seeds have a totally different aromatic profile, and, of course, are used very widely in Indian and Middle Eastern cuisine.

A lot of coriander bunches have the roots removed because of the preference of most customers. The roots are then sold separately for more. The roots are a specialty item.

Oops, brain fart. Definitely from the seeds of the coriander plant. Not sure why I said root. Thanks!

I don't mind dill if it's used sparingly in, say, a baked fish dish. But I'm not a big fan and very rarely actually cook with it.

Looking at Zac's body when he put the shirt on, he'd have no trouble if they brought back skinfold tests! To the contrary, I think they'll need to get him on a Ben Reid style diet of rotisserie chicken and milkshakes haha. With no coriander or dill.

Not expecting anything from the lad for a couple of years, so anything he does produce in that time would be a bonus IMO.

My favourite herbs to cook with are Italian parsley, chives, french tarragon, marjoram and most of all basil.
Anything with tomato or mango gets the basil treatment.
Zac might never get very bulked, maybe much like Coxie?

Mango is a part of the pineapple family surely.

It gets pulverised into curry pastes. Sometimes chunks to help flavour a soup.
Apparently mostly in Thai curry pastes.
I only ever use Patak vindaloo or madras curry pastes.
Some sources say the root tastes a bit like carrot but is mild and nothing like the leaves or stems.
Maybe we can fatten Zac up with some good curries.

Some of these kids are just idiots - not to mention their families. How hard is it to put on weight? His Dad's Aussie - should be taking him to the fish and chip for lunch and his mum's Vietnamese - fatty pork belly in a clay pot for dinner, with a heap of beers. And what's with all this running? That's not going to help.

Some people just have fast metabolisms and doesn't seem to matter what they eat they don't put on weight.
I had a brother in law like that, he ate enormous amounts and stayed skinny all his life.
I suppose he could have had a tapeworm 😵‍💫

Also I think when you are tall and raw it might take some time
He’s also an october baby so basically just turned 18 a month ago

It shows how useless the club is. McCarthy has been in our academy for years and the haven't sorted out his tape worm yet.
