I agree - it is nice to see people of faith being accepted. I look forward to the same being done for christians.

Interesting post considering your views on Mason Cox being an American.

I 100% agree with what you've written above though. We should accept people of all walks of life in the Freo family. Sweidy is going to be a star. Possibly the next Hayden Ballantyne if we're really lucky.

Freo is to WA what Austin is to Texas. We are proud to be "weird" in a relatively conservative, mining, farming and sports orientated state. We are famous for our street theatre, our music, and our appreciation for the arts. We have produced and been home to Tim Minchin, Tim Winton, Ben Elton, Sam Worthington, Tame Impala.. the list goes on. We have also been a home to the Rajneesh Movement, embraced Tibetan Buddhist visitors, attracted countless hippies, and welcomed a multi-cultural mix of immigrants over the years that love our beaches, cafes and markets, and add so much to our cosmopolitan mix. We have a proud history of celebrated Noongar footballers we laud and cherish.

I grew up in the 80's and 90's skating and playing in bands around Fremantle and Melville with my dreadlocked Lebanese mates. I descend from convicts that lay the first limestone around Fremantle, and also the guards who were their captors.

Sweidy has landed in the perfect spot, if you ask me, where he can be who he is, and be appreciated for all he adds to our club, and our town.
