Well, some scribes had him heading to us in the draft proper, so it could be seen as a bargain snaring the bloke late in the rookie draft.

Welcome to Hawthorn.

I understand he played through the year with a bung shoulder and still took some scalps (including playing well on Patton:)).

Fast, agile, closing speed and pretty decent height. Excellent pickup.

Welcome Andrew, we look forward to you growing with us!!

Absolutely stoked about this selection.
Have planned well for the future with our defensive stocks.

I always thought under Pelchen we didn't roll the dice on talls in the rookie draft nearly enough. Any bloke taken this late in a weaker draft is obviously a long shot, but I'd rather gamble on an athletic tall than a short, one-paced midfielder.

If Patton turns out as good as everyone thinks.........we have a bloke who can play on him. Thinking positive.

Completely agree markr.

My only issue is that we now have a crazy number of defenders on our list (Gibbo, Stratts, Gilham, Schoey, Kelly, Lithers, Langers, Birch, Goo, Duryea, Suckling, Murphy, Cheney, Boumann, Boseley, Pops...) when I was hoping we'd rookie a tall forward.

Throw in Hodge and Ellis and we can field a side.

Like the look of this fella - good height (192 or 194cm? Conflicting info out there...) and seems quick too

We've done very well landing Boseley at pick 52 in the Rookie Draft.

Many expected him to go 2nd/3rd round in the ND.

I've heard he got the better of Patton when they played on each other this year.

Welcome to Hawthorn, Andrew.

Let's hope he can be a good FB for us for 10 years or so.

Here is an article in the HS on Andrew before the national draft where he was expected to maybe go 2nd or 3rd round.

From the article and video Boseley sounds like a steal for the Hawks at pick 52 on the Rookie draft.

I'm also impressed by his results at the Draft Combine where Andrew ran 20m in 2.93sec, registered a 14.10 beep test and ran 3km in 10min 40sec.

Welcome to the HFC big fella, good to have you amongst us........

Is very exciting for the future

I found another article on Boseley that was in the Geelong Telegraph in August before the national draft.

Geelong's Andrew Boseley charging towards a prized draft selection

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sp...-draft-selection/story-e6frexx0-1226114838753

I like this bit from the article -

"The Geelong Falcons defender kept Patton, tipped to be taken by Greater Western Sydney at pick No.1, to one goal as the Falcons smashed Eastern.

After competing well against Patton in the Vic Metro-Vic Country game last month, Boseley is the only backman to have had Patton's measure.

"I think he's now probably established himself as the best key defender in the TAC Cup," Falcons coach Aaron Greaves said."

Not a bad effort from a guy who needed a shoulder reconstruction and played out the season with the injury.

I'm not sure why he slipped through to the rookie draft (kicking?) but the more I read about this kid the more I'm thinking the Hawks have done well in getting Boseley as a rookie as we are not risking much.

I like that he has great closing speed and can read the play well, sounds like a potential Full Back to me. Fingers crossed.

To those who think boseley Is just a defender, watch him playing for south barwon in the 2010 Geelong football under 18 grand final. Best on ground at CHF, in a respectable league. Welcome to the club

I thought this might have been the case. In one of the video interviews pre-draft he said he was surprised to be sent down back at the start of the year but ended up enjoying it.
