Tom Mitchell too.Josh Kennedy is one that comes to mind.
Also Blakey chose academy over FS.
Marc Murphy declined FS all together to go to open draft.

Tom did go father son to Sydney where his old man played though. In fairness to Mitchell and Murphy, the clubs their dad's played for didnt really exist any more and rejecting F/S meant they didnt have to move interstate. Blakey also chose the club his dad was working at and the one he actually grew up around (and also not the absolute basket case....)
Right you are - i somehow keep forgetting that he came to us from the SwansTom did go father son to Sydney where his old man played though.

It was his first goal. In the pocket from the other side.I remember a similarly long and difficult goal from Will Day. Might not have been his debut game but was debut season and Hawks were really struggling at the time. Team lifter right there. Would be great if another Will has a like rise in the AFL.
Murphy knew he was going pick one to Carlton, so he didnt really pick the open draft.Tom Mitchell too.

McCabe is one of the reasons we shouldn't trade Schubert, a future forward line of Dear, Schubert, McCabe with Watson at there feet COULD become this generation's Roughy, Franklin, Gunston when he retires one day and Rioli, not saying they will but you never now, and if two of the 3 are FS even better, hopefully Kobe Williams keeps performing well this season and his another we recruit.I agree but I rate McCabes potential higher. I'm a bit biased as well as he is a father son pick and Iloved the way his old man went about it. After many years of failed father sons and then the Kennedy debacle, we finally have a new crop in Dear and McCabe who could potentially become stars of the comp. If Hodge jnr does nominate us, i'll be over the moon as well
The game has changed in so many ways over the years but I genuinely love father/ son picks and hope it never changes
Lewis still has heaps of footy left so it’s hard.McCabe is one of the reasons we shouldn't trade Schubert, a future forward line of Dear, Schubert, McCabe with Watson at there feet COULD become this generation's Roughy, Franklin, Gunston when he retires one day and Rioli, not saying they will but you never now, and if two of the 3 are FS even better, hopefully Kobe Williams keeps performing well this season and his another we recruit.
A future side with
Dear
McCabe
Williams
Hodge
This would be the most FS would have in our side at once if this was to materialise, at the moment it's 2 Dear and McCabe.
