Have they stated how the complete draft order works? There doesn't seem to be any explanation that I can find. I know they had the lottery to determine the order for the first round, but you'd hope they have some kind of formula that results in the overall drafting process being fair to all teams. Then again, it IS the AFL....
I'm pretty sure its going to be a snake draft order. So in the second round the order is reversed. And so forth

What is wrong about that?

Put it this way, do you care in the slightest what any of our male coaches look like, or do you care if they are good at their jobs? It would be nice if we applied the same attitude to the women's team.

As an example, want to guess how many of the 100+ comments in the thread on Brenton Sanderson being appointed were about his looks, and how many were about how good or not he would be at his job?

The point being more around the objectification of women - a woman's worth or competence and ability to do her job is not based on her looks. It should not be the first, second or third thing that comes to mind as it certainly doesn't come into play when discussing a man doing his job.

Where did I bloody say anything about how good or bad she is at her job:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Can't have Double Standerds when Women want to be Treated the same

A girl I grew up with never played AFL until this year and she absolutely dominated the season. Won the best on ground in the grand final and also won their best and fairest. Quite an achievement. GWS has been on her radar big time and she got invited to a screening day, along with a lot of other girls from different sports. Hope we pick her up with one of our draft picks she would be an excellent get.

The other girls that I have seen play from my local club are Heather Anderson and Elyse O'Dea. Both played for The Bulldogs and The Demons over the last couple of years. I think Heather got a best of ground on one of the games. Both of these girls could have been playing a low level of male seniors in Canberra.

That is about as much info I can provide on some girls we should look at. I'm actually looking forward to seeing how this develops over the next couple of years. Women's AFL is one of the fastest expanding games in the world believe it or not.

Glad they do that then. Then give no Team to much of a Advantage

They've got 19 rounds of selection to get through on October 12th ... Gee TradeDraft, I hope you're in training for making those welcome threads. it's going to be an epic day!!! :D

Sure Will Be. How will I be able to Follow it?

Sounds like a rigged lottery, GWS then Brisbane, keep the push going into the northern states!
Unless things have changed my understanding is that it's numerous state drafts with each player only able to nominate 1 state. That would make the draft order irrelevant for Freo, GWS, Brisbane and Adelaide.

LOL, yeah that seems right

CrowdedHouse / The_Wookie , can you confirm that the draft is pointless for the non-Victorian teams? (And also what would be the point of giving non-Victorian teams priority picks when they have can have whoever they want from their own state draft?)

I'd assume to create the illusion of fairness. The below link confirms my thoughts about how the draft works and other details. Draftees are contracted for 6 months and this bit which TradeDraft may like "Results of the draft will be sent live to the AFL website with further details of when and where to obtain this information to be finalised over the coming month."
