Good use of a rookie spot .
Nice to see that we used all our three rookie selections on speculative players , that to me is how the rookie draft SHOULD be used .
This is how previously we use the rookie draft ....not our more recent infatuation with picking up recycled duds from the reject shop.

Like many here I have grown tired of us not taking speculative rookies only to find that our possible “rookie gem “ from the previous year gets taken early in the draft the following year.

I think the concerns with Ryan were fair enough last year. Glad he turned it around and I’m happy with the pick. We did have a plethora and it also shows we’re committed to him

Whilst I get that, I also think that either or both Banfield or Kelly could have been added to the rookie list last year.

Banfield got passed over and went back to the WAFL and won the Claremont F&B remember he is the same age as Ainsworth both 19 year olds born 1998.

Whilst Ainsworth managed to play reserves for Subiaco , Banfield played the entire season in the League and took home The Cook Medal for the F&B.

Blind Freddy could see that both Banfield and Kelly had potential that we choose to ignore.

Food for thought and ....... and by the way I am not intending to bag Ainsworth, rather just putting our rookie list selections into some perspective.

yeah he was booming. it wasn't the loss of JK for 17 games in 2012 that cost us that season or Embleys stub kick, it was Nicoski in the preseason Grand Final.

I saw him last year for souths and thought of nicoski when he snapped 40m goals, and kicked 55m on the run goal.
