How many players from the 1985 WA Teal Cup (now NAB Under 18 Championship) side ended up playing for West Coast?
Not 100% sure but I think John Worsfold, Chris Lewis, Paul Peos, Chris Waterman, Guy McKenna, Peter Sumich and Scott Watters were all a part of that TEAL Cup side.

From Football Record 1995 Round 15: Look through the WA side from that year and you can see why they went so well. Scott Watters, Chris Waterman, Guy McKenna, Peter Sumich, Chris Lewis, Paul Peos and John Worsfold were all part of that ground-breaking side. They were dubbed 'The Magnificent Seven' by the Perth media after becoming stars for West Coast. Peos, Worsfold and Lewis debuted in 1987, Waterman and McKenna in 1988, and Watters and Sumich the following year.

"Apart from the blokes who went on to the Eagles, virtually everyone played WAFL seniors, plus Allen Jakovich who went to Melbourne."

Also: Melbourne full forward Allen Jakovich was also a member of the team while Karl Langdon was a late withdrawal because of illness.

After the Teal Cup Grand Final, National Football League selectors named the All-Australian Under 17 team as follows: Victoria: Edward Considine, Brett Gloury, Paul Smit, Mark Dwyer, Barry Stoneham and John Peter-Budge; Western Australia: Peter Sumich, Chris Lewis, Paul Peos, Guy McKenna, Michael Broadbridge and Peter Torpy; Queensland: Gavin Crosica and Tony Lynn; South Australia: Timothy McNeill and Kym Russell; Tasmania: Peter Anderson; New South Wales: Jason Kerr; ACT: David Archer; Northern Territory: Murray Liddle.

Good information there. Logic would dictate the VFL knew of this talent but still gave the concessions to West Coast out of pure arrogance, thinking their suburban teams couldn't possibly lose to a team filled with the best young talent to ever come out of WA. Boy were they wrong.
