Hi All,

After a good break I am keen to get stuck into werewolf. I thought I'd bring something to the group that was really successful where I used to play back in the day and made games even more fun.

Essentially, it's a werewolf player Ladder where you gain points every game based off wins, staying alive and being the MVP (two MVP nominations given per game by the mod/s).

It doesn't have to be super competitive etc, but would make for an interesting 2021 following the results and at the end of the year we can hopefully do something like a badge to commemorate the top few players.

The point system would be as follows (and open to adjusting):

MVP: 10 points
Winning and surviving: 5 points
Winning and dying: 3 points
Playing: 1 point
Getting modkilled: minus 5 points

I'd be happy to maintain the spreadsheet/thread if enough people are interested. People really enjoyed it on the other board so thought I'd bring the idea here - no problem if people aren't into the idea but thought it was worth throwing out there!
How much for an Arsonist win? I'm assuming something in the order of 30-40 points yeah?

I think there should be some extra points around activity. Helps encourage it and rewards those who stay in the game longer.
You weren't around for the five pages of "I am a villager", were you?

I personally don't like that idea as if someone is a neutral role that needs to survive to the end, they shouldn't be effected by laying low. I think that is more of a modding issue than a metric to be scored on.
This assumes that it isn't possible to win as neutral without laying low though (which isn't true)...

That is besides the point. The point is that being active shouldn't be a metric given it's a legitimate strategy to not post much.

It does make for a much less engaging/enjoyable game though when taken to an extreme
I didn't have a problem with Millky95 's game hence me being happy to give him the win
We have had neutral wins after literally all they did was vote just enough to avoid a modkill though , which is the type of game I have an issue with

Up to the mod though. I've played games in the past with minimum post requirements and they're messy a.f. if the village don't like that tactic then voting known lurkers who use that strategy can be done. It's not really something that can be embedded in a points system.

It depends on what the point of the points system is. Are we favouring survival? Meeting a wincon (which is possible without surviving)? Or simply having an entertaining/engaging game?

The main points should be based on results imo:

Did your faction win?
Did you make it until the end?

Now, I might not make it to the end in a game but because of a play I made with the amulet and a lynch might win the game for my faction. I don't make it to the end but that play is subjective and only a mod (who sees everything) can determine if it was game defining or not

Yep and equally, someone who made it to the end might've just done so through fluke
eg forgetting to put in an action , trying to kill someone who wasn't even playing
yeah we have had winners like that haha :D
The melts which ensued (no, not even from me - SarahSmiles could attest) were hillarious too

I'm sure you'll find as games progress the people who know one tactic and that's to do nothing but vote once and disappear will not climb the ladder.

Literally my greatest game ever. I'll return to werewolf one day and hopefully fall over my own feet to victory again

Even I remember that and I barely remember what happened last game let alone last week!

I like the idea and was excited to find Millky95's thread, only to be bitterly disappointed that it had stopped being updated by the time I started playing. I reckon I'd have at least 1 point by now!

I just checked my current point Talley and you're on -30 points. How many times have you been modkilled?!?!?

Have you guys taken into account the total amount of games played as well? Someone that's played a whole bunch of average games could be ranked equally or even higher than someone that's played less games at a higher level.
