Game of the round next week. Both good defences, mids evenly matched, it’s all up to who’s forwards can kick the score
I really like both backlines.....superb .....snagging a goal against these two teams is tough.

Talk about a tough crowd!

I've got SaintLoopy and Mr Ketchup Snr on the case and TBH it's so much fun. Long may it continue.

This is the beauty of WAFL Colts. It's zone v zone. None of the nine zones are alike and none of them like each other.

It's WAFL in it's purest form before fancy recruits.

As you mentioned me I have to give you my opinion. Not sure if any Perth player deserved that many votes in a 74 point loss. I do agree the Perth defenders did ok but they lost by 75 points & I feel that they passed it to each other a lot to get the stats & didn’t really rebound out of the 50. Do the other 2 south defenders don’t deserve votes for doing the same thing. I’m sorry but I thought that Zac Goodwin was very good on Jamyson & deserved more than 2 votes. Jamyson was the main forward threat because he is a fantastic player & don’t think Zac could of done a better job.
zac did well not sure he had the pace to keep up with Jamayson but did do well. was quiet in second half when Jamayson moved up the ground but would agree he deserved a vote ahead of the other souths defenders.

not Mr Ketchup Snr :D not my last name but is my boy.

I sort of agree but those top fives from each side provided by the coach/team manager/assistant etc on the WAFL site do give a bit of balance. 51% coaches/49% me/guests.

As a wise man once told me, best players are a subjective matter. I like that the losing team gets a few votes at least. Sometimes they have five good players but not 23 like South.

Which reminds me, it's your turn to do the voting on next weeks Souths game.

8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 BOG

No bias now young fella.....you are playing those pesky Monts afterall.
Very wise words. I've seen plenty of players drafted who weren't named in the WAFL votes each week :).

Thatcher Simmons (S)

Noobermensch does much better desciptions than I do about these videos, so I'll copy and paste his own words.

"A strong start through the first two Colts games for Thatcher Simmons who's struggled with injury issues his last two seasons but might be ready to remind people of his talents. Broad shouldered and a powerful frame that Simmons uses to effect in laying strong tackles, winning the ball or wrestling in marking contests. In this game he showed he possesses a touch of magic with the lead up to his second goal."

Check out the Footy Stuff youtube channel for all the player in focus videos compiled by Noobermensch

Brand new notes from the highly dedicated Lingsface of the EF v S Colts game played today at Joondalup.

Notes WAFL Colts- East Fremantle vs Subiaco

East Fremantle looked strong all over the field and had a number of players that could of been mentioned.
Subi lucky to get away with this margin they looked out classed today.

Finlay Yeo (EF) 22 disposals 1 goal 3 behinds. (2026 Draft)
Another great game by Yeo, this kid is a star and has Nick Watson type energy, a turn of pace and agility that is rare. He is an excitement machine but always puts the team first. Could develop like a Kosi Pickett into a very good on baller as time goes on as well . Good by foot and hand and very clean with his first touch. Hit the post on an attempt that he found space at the back of a stoppage and hit it at a speed that no one else could get near was a WOW moment.

James Artemis (EF) 14 disposals 1 goal (2027 Draft)
One of 3 on the Tasmania list and you can see why, not for this year but will be fun to watch.

Ben Wood (EF) 17 disposals 8 marks 1 goal (2026 Draft)
A super talent has very sticky hands and seems to be being used a bit more up the ground this year compared to last, Does some things that make you pay attention every game, just needs to work on his second efforts and fitness I feel. Marked the ball today forward, middle and back with some very important moments.

Alex Powderly (EF) 14 disposals 14 hitouts 1 goal (2026 Draft)
Did some nice things doesn't look like he is the right size for AFL ruck but seems to do alot around the ground and has a great kick and strong above his head. Interested to find out more about him if anyone knows?

Reid Foot (EF) 15 disposals 4 goals (2027 Draft)
Did some very smart things around goal and although doesn't seem to be lightning finds space with a good footy brain, looking at his profile is a Geraldton boy and Foot is a good footballing name there, with a premiership coach and a very good player in his time as well.

Thatcher Simmons (S) 17 disposals 2 goals (2026 Draft)
Good sized powerful player who seems to have nice skills as well. Reminded me a bit of a Jack Darling type worked hard up the field quite physical and good above his head and able to play taller than what he is listed as. Had some very good moments and with poor delivery managed to draw free kicks by competing and finish when given the opportunity.

Matthew Fawcett (S) 10 disposals 1 goal 2 (2027 Draft)
Although not a flattering stats sheet, I loved his presentation all day hit contests straight and hard and created opportunities although the supply was not flash.

Thanks again to one of our wonderful contributors in Lingsface
Powderly comes from a basketball background from memory....WA U/16 state metro/Floreat....basically he has come in as the replacement for Edward's at EF, who has gone back to basketball - Willeton Tigers

You know I love what you do but 2 SF boys in the top 20. Cmon play nice 😝

It's a workman like team. Not many stars but every player knows his role. And it's quite experienced compared to some of the others.

Plenty of time yet.

Loving the work big Byron has done with his running power. I can see that he put in the hard work. The move to CHB is ace.

Wilson, Maynard, Graham, Bushe-Jones, Stannard (probably a WAFL star), McAuliffe (same), Gatluak is a player to watch, Hookham dangerous. All in the mix. Then a bunch of others in the to watch list.

Robinson is the worry.

I have him number 1. The Eastern States scribes are going off him. I'll just be patient and wait and see if I want to react.

I’m not sure but I think the winter squad will get named next week. I’m really worried with PSA & state duties being a lot longer this year that some teams might really have their depth tested.

Thoughts on who may be added from the summer squad? Selection for 16s must also be close to being announced?

Got a feeling EF may have a decent number selected in the 16's......their Futures won again today v SF, and remain unbeaten so far.....Jayke Taylor and Troy Warner two definites I would think.....with Owen Hodge, Jack Holland and Tom De Jongh not far behind....some familiar names in Derecourt, Gaspar and Yeo also running around in that EF Futires side.

Lingsface has a brand new notes from the round 3 Colts match between East Perth and East Fremantle. Excellent observations again.

Much appreciated Lingsface.

WAFL COLTS- East Fremantle vs East Perth
Notes from the game, dominate game from East Fremantle they have a very solid backline and no weak areas must be a top 3 side. East Perth were beaten but had some very good contributors just not enough of them.

James Artemis (EF) 21 disposals 1 goal 1 behind (2027 Draft)
Bottom age player continues to show great signs and will be a top end draft pick next year. Ball magnet, great decision making.

Finlay Yeo (EF) 18 disposals 1 goal (2026 Draft) Started off very well and as the contest was decided he seemed to drop away, was important in the beginning though. Seems to be playing a bit more midfield.

Benjamin Wood (EF) 16 disposals 8 marks and 4 behinds (2026 Draft) I was very excited to see him play this year, but has been a bit of a let down so far. Seems to be playing a lot more up the field limiting his impact on the scoreboard taking marks 100m from goal but doesn't seem to have the endurance to hurt on the way back to goal when played this way.

Taitt Abbott (EF) 17 disposals 5 marks (2027 Draft)
I think he is a bottom ager as well, this kid has something special about him rock solidly defensively and then very composed and a really nice kick that sets up attack from the backline.

Marcus Motton (EF) 27 disposals 6 marks (2026 Draft)
Looks rangy, explosives at times and can accumulate the football, could be someone that sparks some interest as an attacking wingman.

Ethan Turner (EP) 23 disposals (2026 Draft)
Seemed to be paying attention to Yeo at some parts of the game, has a great attack on the ball and I thought he will just be a goer with no real special qualities but as the game wore on he showed speed and actually very nice foot skills. Could be a good defensive midfielder, reminded me of a Rowbottom type.

Lachlan Mcglade (EP) 18 disposals 5 inside 50's (2026 Draft)
One I always watch closely and am a big fan, this year so far has been disappointing, today was his best game and did some wonderful things. He just seems to have a little more to give though, waiting for him to rip a game apart.

Keidis Solberg (EP) 19 disposals 2 goals (Colts Overager)
This guy caught my eye early had a play that reminded me of Paul Curtis, so clean below his knees and quick off the mark. Kept bobbing up and doing nice things. Looks very promising and would like to know more from anyone with that information.

William Taboni (EP) 16 disposals (2026 Draft)
One touch around stoppages when used there and also had some very nice running bounces through the corridor, did not do a heap but a few eye catching displays.

Wonderful work Lingsface.

EF Ashton Nicholl's looked a likely sort, good to see Tait Abbott get a mention too, been a standout for EF after 3 games....

Koby LeCras (WP)

Noobermensch does much better desciptions than I do about these videos, so I'll copy and paste his own words.
Please support his Footy Stuff youtube channel. It's the most comprehensive channel for video analysis of draft contenders.
Why not buy him a coffee.

"While Koby wasn't awarded the medal, he was the clear BOG in the humble opinion of this observer. Koby shapes as a prospect that's very well suited to the modern game, playing as a wing or half forward with the tank and running power to get up and down the ground, the size and overhead marking strength to impact aerially, a classy and penetrating left foot kick, and the knack of impacting the scoreboard by slotting majors himself or setting up his teammates."

More excellent notes from Lingsface.
This time the Claremont v South Fremantle round 3 WAFL Colts game.

WAFL COLTS MATCH REPORT- CLAREMONT VS SOUTH FREMANTLE

Match notes- Cracking game between two top rated sides, South Fremantle's foot skills were elite.

George Gale (CL) 31 disposals 6 marks 6 tackles 2 goals. (2026 Draft)
This kid does it every week, I can not believe he isn't in the Academy side. He reminds me of Bryce Gibbs at the same age effortless class but he has some mongrel as well and is very decent overhead when needed. In my opinion is WA top prospect this year, watching last year I thought why is Mellody rated above him and the question is still there for me.

Harper Banfield (CL) 19 disposals 1 goal (2026 Draft)
Was not his best game but when the game was on the line, he showed some real grunt kicking a very crucial goal from outside 50 with 2 mins to go and then winning the next stoppage and giving Claremont a shot on goal to win it.

Charlie Bedbrook (CL) 17 disposals 19 hitouts 4 marks (Colts Overager)
Presented well, had a very nice first qtr and was taking marks just outside of his range and providing the contest that was needed. Also had versatility to go into the ruck as well.

Elijah Dennis (CL) 14 disposals 6 marks (2026 Draft)
This guy is just a very good defender and also offered some rebound tonight, but his defence should be appreciated, souths had great delivery and speed on the ball and he still managed to stop many attempts.

Chace Vanderhoek (SF) 35 disposals 5 marks (2027 Draft)
Did not know much about him before tonight, but WOW! 35 touches this happens sometimes, but this guy is class with the ball some perfect passes that where too good for the leading forward and has strength over the contest as well. He needs to be noticed, him and Gale were the two best on grounds by a fair margin.

Riley Stannard (SF) 21 disposals 5 tackles (2026 Draft)
Seemed like a good honest tough footballer with some nice skills and a player that could do that every night of the week. Seemed like an important part of the puzzle in South's lineup.

Cameron Maynard (SF) 9 disposals 7 tackles (2026 Draft)
It wasn't his night for getting on the scoreboard but this guy is super super quick and exciting. Often when I say that about a player it is all about offence, he had no goals but his defensive work was elite, 2nd 3rd 4th efforts and a couple resulting directly in goals for others. You can tell that when the ball bounces the right way he could tear a game apart with 5 goals but too show the other side was super impressive.

Byron Foster (SF) 16 disposals 8 marks (2026 Draft)
I believe he was a ruckman and has started playing back this year, he is like a shiny new toy has great hands is AFL defender size and is showing some very promising moments. Seems to pick up a smaller opponent and not the key so there is some misconception at the moment but his ball reading ability and skills seems to be very enticing.

Wonderful stuff and much appreciated Lingsface.

State 18’s squad has been decided with those making it starting with induction tomorrow night. Sorry don’t have details on who was successful but would think it’ll be public within next few days.
Doesn't feel like enough footy has been played seeing as the WAFL starts later than most other comps.

Having Said that, there will be additions to the squad. There always are and rightly so.

So nobody should get disheartened yet.

Finlay Yeo (EF) 18 disposals 1 goal (2026 Draft) Started off very well and as the contest was decided he seemed to drop away, was important in the in though.

Artemis got an after the ball tackle which has resulted in a shoulder injury. Possibly out for a few weeks even substantial length. Likely to get scans tomorrow if hasn’t already to see how bad the injury may be. Fingers crossed not as bad as could be.

You know my concerns with Robinson but how was he not in the Academy team? Have I missed something...
