Points Matching- How to Calculate:

Picks 1-18: Points value of pick less 10% discount
Picks 19-36: Points value of pick less 84 points discount
Picks 37+ : Next available pick

From the points required deduct the value of the next available pick and repeat until the total of the picks used exceeds the value required. The value of the surplus is then used to add back the pick closest to that value

For example a bid at pick 2 for Uwland:
• Pick 2 = 2481 points less 10% means 2233 points are needed to match
• Gold Coast have picks 15 (973), 18 (836), 24 (621) totalling 2430 points
• There is a surplus of 197 points which is equivalent to pick 43 (184 points)
• So to match, Gold Coast lose picks 15,18,24 and gain pick 43

Pick 5 - Richmond
Cooper Duff-Tytler (Calder Cannons/Woodend JFC) - ruck/forward - 201cm

The latest "unicorn" prospect with a basketball background, CDT is widely considered as the second-best non-academy prospect in the draft behind Duursma. His strengths are his athleticism and mobility, finishing in the top 10 at the combine in both the 20-metre sprint and the 2k time trial, which is amazing for a kid over 2 metres tall. The biggest question mark over him (for Richmond anyway, who won't be concerned about him being a flight risk) is whether he can make it as a ruck in the AFL, as his ruck work hasn't been his strong point in juniors. But his size, potential and athletic profile just make him impossible to pass up at this pick.

He's been compared with Luke Jackson and models himself on Tom De Koning, both athletic rucks who generally only played as backup rucks earlier in their careers, and I think that's where he projects, at least for the first few years while he works on his ruck craft. That's an issue for Richmond who need to start planning for life after Nankervis pretty quickly, but they'll have to look elsewhere for that I guess.

Other players considered - None really. I thought maybe about bidding on Patterson here just to make life slightly tougher for Gold Coast, but I thought that was unlikely. I think Richmond would call out CDT's name without hesitating.

Pick 7 - Richmond
Xavier Taylor (Eastern Ranges/East Ringwood JFC) - defender - 192cm

One of the best defensive prospects in the draft, Taylor showed his big-game credentials with a BOG effort in the Ranges' Talent League grand final victory. He's capable of locking down on an opponent as well as playing as an interceptor, where his athleticism, ability to read the game and aggressive on-field persona stand him in good stead.

He's been compared with Nick Vlastuin and I've selected him here essentially as part of a succession plan for Vlastuin, who like Nankervis will turn 32 during the 2026 season. Richmond stocked up on promising youngsters in the 2024 draft but other than Luke Trainor there's a bit of a dearth in the backline.

Other players considered - I thought seriously about picking the vowelless wonder Sam Grlj here, given his midfield attributes (particularly his speed) and his existing links to Richmond, but ultimately I decided it felt like a bit of a reach. I'm conscious of the fact this ends up meaning Richmond don't take a midfielder in this draft, but they did load up on them a bit last year with Lalor, Hotton and Smillie.

Given that I already stuffed up my plan to trade down and pick Dovaston I am going to try to continue to trade down until I have traded out of the draft altogether. AsterixTheGaul eaglevision ArdentEagle Schtinker come at me with a deal for pick 16 where I get back pick 18 to 21 plus some other goodies. (I would have offered to Hawthorn for pick 22 but nah, stuff those guys)

Stuff it, I'll just take Latrelle Sumner-Pickett, who coincidentally is related to one of our best players. This should help Kysaiah feel better about being stuck at Melbourne for the next few years as they lose a lot of matches in a rebuild. It's not purely a nepo pick as LSP (will this nickname stick? Who knows!) has a lot of similar qualities (quickness, agility, nose for the goal) that make his cousin a great player, and the Dees' small forward stocks are almost as dreadful as West Coast.

eaglespremiers, welcome to the draft, picking for the Bulldogs. The Dogs still have their original pick which they received for finishing as the 10th worst side on the ladder, but thanks to the infinite wisdom of the AFL they now get the 17th pick in the draft.

Some of the value of a mock draft is to assess how you feel with talent and options at different points.

Picking for the Crows, I am actually pretty happy to stay put and let the draft draft come to me as I have multiple good options at what was 16.

That said, I did try to get the Blues first pick but Carbine Chaos was taking his part very seriously and his method acting was in line with the typical Princess Park arrogance and I suspect he wanted to prove a point not matching the Dean bid. Time will tell.

It was purely because I wanted Sharp-Dovaston as a pairing.

In hindsight I'd have done things differently, but thems the breaks.

Crows select Harley Barker

Crows midfield looked a little one dimensional without Rankin in their straight sets Lisa in 2025.

Barker has shown the ability to on all three lines. He adds pace and makes really good decisions with ball in hand. As the transition from inside contested to outside run and carry gains importance, barker will deliver in spades.

The Crows can afford to be patient as he rehabs from a late season ACL.

I considered Marsh but they are tall enough up front and they need to be list managing to be in the win now window. Some may consider a reach but back up plan was BOB. I would have been very happy with him as well. I could also have gone Thredgold.

Unless it was for 9, I’m not going to worry about trading up. For a SA club with deep SA talent, pick 16 felt a great place to be.

eaglevision to pick for the BODE

**** it - I like him way more than NHH and Nairn looks good, as does BOB but I just really like the look of this kid.
Threadgold is another but not a huge need.

Either way, I figure I win. I'll either **** Freo over or pick a gem. (Talent is there...Hopefully the body can hold out)

* I'm not a sheep...I'll go with my gut.
My next pick can be matched without loss and I CBF trying to trade to nab him.

This one is one ceiling and gut feel.

Fremantle pick 21 - Bid on Koby Evans .
